Because ART isnt default coding yet.. So these updates are pretty much peasantglares.

Most vendors aren't turning it on as a) it's in beta and b) their rollout / upgrade paths are very long and slow.

If they designed it correctly, and enable and specify which parts can be changed, they wouldn't have this much fragmentation. The OEM UI can remain the same as previous version .. while the core OS updates.

You are totally at the mercy of third party makers and root makers. Freedom totally taken..

Yes they can! But no.. laziness. And their UI designers need spanking.

Google updates are useless why OEM have to be responsible for that???

Just look at Microsoft Windows Phones and their updates, they are so organized and stable the reason is that Windows is same for all phones doesn't care if it's Nokia, HTC, Samsung or anything...

Their approach is much better I'm using both Windows Phone(Lumia 920) and Android(Moto G). Windows is good in use as well as smooth enough to beat any of these platforms

Why MS can update without issues all these years? All different shape and size PC gets updates they like. Why can't Google do the same?

Are you saying a few UI, a few new hardware broke their coding? couldn't Users have the choice and have to Root to get their phone going?

They saw this BIG problem 3 years ago in ICS. They still couldn't get their acts together to fix this fragmentation once and for all.

Yes, it's a big issue, but it's up to you to choose a device and a OEM that can and will update your device OR root it.

                                    3 years still Android 4.

3 years still same OLD 3 non movable, non customisable software keys.. that broke honeycomb UI.

3 years .. to make Google+ and hangouts to remove freedom from users.

Those that say you can give up on Google services.. your either gonna lose your freedom to most apps that uses google services, or lose your freedom in using Google+

Who ever is working in the UI department of google .. need to be fired.. Damn first OS to go completely buttonless so much HOPE in android.. becomes rock bottom in touch gestures.. compared to iPad multi-touch gestures.

It's not Google's fault that OEM's aren't updating their devices! If you don't like this, root the goddam thing and install CM11 > problem fixed!
