Well this no surprise for surfing the net you don't need a computer. It's much easy to do that with a phone. One uses a computer for heavy work. I surf websites like these on my phone. And use my laptop mostly for games or any other work that would alot of time on phone

What a misleading title. It says that they're connected, that doesn't mean that they're actively using it. My smartphone is connected the whole day to the internet too but I won't let my PC run the whole day. still I'm actively using the internet more with my PC.
This is sensationalism at its finest and my comment will probably deleted in no time...

No one is saying apple was the first, but they were the catalyst that finally made the masses start paying attention to the field.

Smart phones had been rapidly increasing for several years before the iphone came in. The iPad was probably the only device that started a new category.
That said, the iPhone was a pretty revolutionary step up for smart phones although it was often hamstrung by a lack of hardware features like 3G.

Mobile data wasnt always widely accepted, lots of people meant it was unnecessary and that we who used it were full of hot air and were basically show-offs. 2 years later when it was already accepted in the west i was in SE Asia and heard the same sarcastic comments all over again, like "Oh, so hightech you are... But whats the point, why???". Asia is a few years late but is catching up real fast, thats typical East and SE Asia, things are very often out to a slow start and then it explodes and everyone jumps on the carousel at the same time.

The credits for mobile internet usage does not go to Apple, they were not even among the first to launch 3G phones, no, they waited till like 2009, despite 3G being around since 2001-2002. Apple get credit for pioneering a new genre of phones but for mobile data use they didnt do much. What was the frist phone with a great browser that unlocked desktop browsing on mobile phone? Nokia N900, full HTML5 and Full Flash support already in 2009 man, thats what i call real innovation, and Nokia had HTML browsers looong before that. In 2010 Nokia N900 was still the only phone to offer a great browser experience.

I'm guessing that using a mobile with a good VPN is better than a PC for avoiding China's 2 million internet police too...

Apple's Apple II computer ushered in PC age while Apple's iPhone and iPad ushered in the post-PC age. Jobs and Wozniak's contribution to the modern age cannot be understated.

Being Swedish I doing exactly the same as the Chinese... Switching from Windows and desktop computer to pocket devices with Android.
Also NAS (=(home)Network accessible storage)allows tablets and phones all the same storage for large video files, as a desktop computers, without the need for bulky hard disk drive. Our NAS is accessible through the Internet too, when away from home.
Sony Playstation costs a third of a noisy and expensive Windows game computers that still can't run latest games at full settings.
