A user must have unlocked their device and agreed to trust another computer before that computer is able to access this limited diagnostic data.
==========

With iOS 8 using extensive use of Continuity - which requires synching with your Mac - won't that mean EVERY iOS device will be compromised?

    Apple,

    We'll put a Zero day in our Mac Books and then leave it there for over 6 years. Then when it's revealed with proof we deny it!

    Innovation at it's best.

      Wonder what Samsung fans would think of Lee Kun-hee who I think most Samsung fans don't know much about, probably because Samsung would love to hide as much as possible about him

                  Apple stashes their cash offshore. All their work is commercial. They have no government contracts. Google cooperates directly with the government on various projects, including the development of Google Maps. And collects information about what you search, where and when you go. I'm much less suspicious of Apple personally.

                    Anonymous, 22 Jul 2014Interesting. Do you have some proof somewhere showing that... moreThat guy's straight up biased. He said in one of his posts he does not favor/unfavor of a particular company. Then he goes bashing Apple on every other Apple article. Which makes me laugh. You know what's rewarding, though? Watching Apple stay in the game and watching people like him burn from inside over Apple's sales/success. There's NOTHING this guy can do but go on a rant. I love it.

                      What's amazing is the AI built into iOS that it's capable of releasing it's own press statement. Normally such a task is left to a company representative.

                      Either way the statement has gone through Apple's legal department and is entirely accurate. All users gave consent transmit data to relevant government agency computers. The agreement was part of Apple's T&C of using the device. And who hasn't unlocked their phone? You have unless you just want to stare at the lock screen all day.

                      As they've always stated they never work with any government agency to create a backdoor. It's either easier to let them just modify any relevant parts and pretend it didn't happen. Or just to sub-contract the department out so they're not working 'with' the agency, but 'for' them. Very different legally.

                        FreezeGame, 22 Jul 2014Jonathan Zdziarski is right. Apple does have back doors and... moreInteresting. Do you have some proof somewhere showing that Apple sells users' data? How does that compare to Google?

                        It's odd how you bring up the court case against Apple for price fixing, yet I don't see you on the Samsung articles shouting about their price fixing scandal for RAM.

                        Or again when samsung was caught price fixing CRT displays.

                        Or again when Samsung was caught price fixing DRAM

                        Or again when Samsung was caught price fixing LCD panels

                        Or again when Samsung was caught price fixing mobile phone prices

                        And this is just the times they were caught price fixing. Let's not even bring up tax evasion, bribery, extortion or worker's rights. Maybe I just missed you trying to teach people about that on the other articles.
