25 July, 2014
US cell owners will be able to legally unlock phones and wireless carriers won't stop them, if bill is signed.

I think the price should remain as it is.. once the two-year contract is over, then people will have the privilege to unlock their phones. I think it will be fair for both network carriers and to its subscribers.

AnonD-281955, 26 Jul 2014Does this mean that in the USA, mobile/cell phone contracts... moreThis should not affect the price of contracts as you will still have to complete the contract before you can move

It may affect the price of Pay As You Go handsets as there may be little incentive to rdduce ghe cost of a handset if any large discount could be used with the intension o not staying

If in the US they copy the U K network and counter this in making a time commitment before a lock code can be purchased or some sort of minimum spend

Networks unlock codes have always cost more than getting the phone unlocked but there is no risk to warranty

Does this mean that in the USA, mobile/cell phone contracts will be somewhat meaningless? Will that mean the price of devices on contracts from carriers will increase due to less incentive for big discounts from carriers because users can use other carriers to access networks?

Yes! Then I can buy AT&T phone iPhone 6 and use it with my local Alaskan carrier instead of waiting for unlocked version because my carrier always sells phones 2 months after all major carriers

AnonD-276650, 26 Jul 2014Nice, now if we can get it so rooting the phone doesn't voi... moreThe problem with rooting a phone is that it allows the user to change things (both hardware and software) that can damage the phone or OS.

Nice, now if we can get it so rooting the phone doesn't void the warranty we'll be where we should have been years ago.

YES! This is a good look!
