vik, 30 Jul 2014Stop complaining it's overpriced: it is high time you under... moreVik, sorry, but Samsung devices have become almost universally overpriced compared to the competition, and especially this phone, which is a mid-range phone which Samsung is trying to hawk as a mini flagship. Even last year's model, the S4 Mini, is still overpriced (250€ in Germany). Comparable phones from LG are available for significantly less, and better spec'd phones are available for the same price (the Sony Z1 Compact being an excellent example). To me, it's no surprise that Samsung recorded a decline in sales last quarter.

Stop complaining it's overpriced: it is high time you understand there is a launch price which includes more marketing cost.
That is you have to pay a premium to get anything early (OTOH early birds prices are only with hospitality and events dudes).
By late October the price should already have dropped to about €350, and closer to €300 by 2015.
Under €250 this will be a good device... unless tests prove otherwise, which the first best reason to wait 3-6 months before buying a recent release.

One giant step in price kind (sorry price evil)
The Z1 compact (except for the removable battery) does make a much much better sense
The marginal 'increase' in specs between the S4 Mini and S5 mini simply show that the S5 mini is way way way overpriced
The biggest change is between the model numbers of these two phones
Whilst the Minis or 4.3" to 4.8" phones are my preferred size, the S5 Mini @ £389.95 is overpriced
As you can get BRAND SPANKING NEW 16Mp Galaxy S4 for £380.00 at Carphone Warehouse which has overall better specs than the S5 Mini the only loss is the S4 is not dust and waterproof
