First LTE-only phones will reach Verizon in 2016

The carrier has announced its plans about making 4G LTE the only network technology needed for calls.

That's stupid. Unless they magically make 4G have the same or better coverage than all 2/3G networks.

    VoLTE is comparable to SIP: this is actually about using data for calls. The idea is about making it all about the data, not keeping voice-only protocols on the side: maybe you understand better the point in VoLTE now?

    Basically Verizon would make VoLTE free (fair use) since voice would use very little data compared to streaming music for instance. Voice is no longer a selling point so there is no point in devising limited contracts here.

          There was a time when selected people had mobile phone and we have few mobile tower setup's but now time has changed and almost everyone has got 1 mobile phone in their pocket.So not now but may be in future like 2060 4G will be the only option for mobile network or may be 5G you never know

                So now you will be forced to use your data allotment to talk, fantastic Verizon, until the whole nation is completely covered in LTE can there be VOLTE, and when it works with all carriers.
