The big five European markets - Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain - reflect the same strong Android presence with a 4 point increase over last year. This is attributed largely to Samsung, which saw sales of its Galaxy S5 flagship in the UK take 11.5% of all handset sales, making it the best-selling unit in the UK.

Also, there are additional costs to making a product including researches and investments. Who's going to pay for those HUGE costs? By selling the iphone for $199? THINK for once.
It's like asking why they don't sell coke for $0.25 because that's how much a can of pop is worth? Duh! this is business, not charity here

Considering the iphone 5s absolutely slaughtered the last generation of android phones performance wise, I cant wait to see what the iphone 6 is capable off.
There is no replacement for raw horsepower.

When you buy an Android device...ANY Android device, you're paying only for hardware. Software you ask? What software? The only company you should be paying for software is Google, which doesn't charge directly for the OS. Correct me if i'm wrong..or missing something..

Btw. Why do you care? If the phone is faster then other phones, takes picture better then other phones, and looks as sharp as other phones?

I am interested to see price of this phone. I phone 5s had ,material cost( BOM ) , just $199 and retail price $999 while galaxy s5 BOM had $255 and retail price $699. Xiaomi has just little bit more the retail price than BOM. So why apple is so expensive whereas specification is like just mid range android phone ? Because of chinnovation ?

After all this is the panicked rush to market to release a LARGER iPhone5S
If we take phones out of the equation and just treat both as involved in sales eg DIARIES
Today, 29th August 2014,
Samsung is offering a 2 year 2015 A4 page a day diary
Apple offer is one year 2011 pocket page a week diary
No matter how well presented, the iPhone6 is dated technology. The Note 4 is not in direct competition with the iPhone6 both being flagship phones
Apple appear to have realised that the Note 4 will highlight even more the difference in cutting edge specs between it, the Note 4 and other flagships which are 13Mp & Quad Core.
Apple does have a hard task in convincing people to commit to a phone for 2 years and pay a premium tariff for a item already dated
Apple imo have not done enough in updating the iPhone and now realise it albeit late, and it is simply this,
you can see a phone and just get blown away and ONLY, ONLY something far better or SIMILAR AND SUBSTANTIALLY LESS in price will prevent us from changing.
The iPhone6 in all likelihood will push some Apple consumers to move to competitors as the premium features are not there

Got Note?, 29 Aug 2014I hope you've Noted (pun intended) that the Note series is ... moreIts just YOUR opinion, for me the very worst flagship phone i had was the Note 2. Also keep in mind that a lot of us can NEVER EVER again buy Samsung becaue of the region locking, even if they made a decent UI with moderate bloat and improved their design it could not be an option, we need phones that work just as well with a local simcard in Hong Kong as it does in USA or Europe, Samsungs do not, now is that noted as well?
