Ludo, 10 Sep 2014Fact is you are not working in marketing as I do, and I can... more In Europe Nokia brand has good association with good old phones like 6130. Microsoft has association with blue screen, hanged system, ctr+alt+del etc. Many consumers esp. not tech guys bus new Nokia, beacouse old Nokia was good.
Name Microsoft may be will be good in USA, but in Europe it will be "The End".

Nokia should have went for android... They went for microsoft and that got them destroyed. Complete idiots and anyone erode week is still high on the dream of Nokia and meego and simbian and windows phone.
Android was not only the only way, it would have been top 1 or 2 amongst android companies.

Nokia phones are quality. That's why people buy them. They are the only phone manufature to give Microsoft a chance.

nomy571, 10 Sep 2014still manufactured by Nokia...jus that Microsoft have bough... moreThat's debatable too. They will fire most of the Nokia people, and the manufacturing is taking place in China nowadays, no more Nokias made in Europe.

Nokia made a mistake at abandoning the Meego OS. It is sad the greatest mobile phone company has died. You can not compare Nokia with Microsoft. Microsoft Lumia phones will not have a huge success. Many people bought Nokia just because of the name, because Nokia had a good reputation.
Now Europe is almost dead when it's about mobile phones. There is no big company there. Philips(Dutch company) is not very popular around the world. Ericsson does not exist. Benq does not exist. Sagem is also dead. Lumigon is almost dead I suppose. Spanish BQ is known mostly in Spain.
Chinese people are smart, they were able to sell their devices almost everywhere, and let's be honest, many of them are crap.
Japan made a mistake too to not enter in the global markets with some really high-end devices(I am talking about Sharp and Fujitsu, the 2 most powerful smart phone makers). They are very very good at everything in electronics and not only.

Let's face it: the writing was on the wall for Nokia when Samsung entered the race. Now that Samsung has crushed them I can only hope that other manufacturers know to tread carefully when it comes to the Galaxy S and Note lines.

The global marketshare leader continues to innovate, consolidate and dominate. Defunct manufacturers continue to stagnate. Period.

Wait, you guys buy something only because of its name? If i wrote Nokia on a bucket of dung you buy it? I see a great business opportunity here, isnt it just great that people can be so ignorant?

Lumia is a brand in itself, you are not sating "gonna buy a windows phone" or "gonna buy a Nokia", no you just say I gonna buy a Lumia.

Pretty good marketing team they have now. MS is changing, the good way I think.
