The smartphone GPU are weak ass.....
Even desktop PC(with Oculust VR) -need damn powerful gpu card like 770ti/290X in order to render the visual in 60frame/s.
Do you know how much radeon 290X Gflop horsepower compare
to mobile latest n greatest gpu? Its reaching 5000 Gflops.
and that is 25x greater than mobile gpu 200 Gflops.
As i said...your sound like a samsung PR.

He went silent when we compared fullHd videos from my note 3 and his g3 its looks the same. sometime we need to use our head. Thanks again.

I'll be wasting money for useless every phone usage. It's not yet there you be wasting money for just that but I'm your android fellow fan. I want to help fellow andRois here because android fans buy a phone with the best buck. We don't need like apple and sadly, I see samsung is doing the marketing apple way.

As mentioned, VR wouldn't be anywhere near as good with 1080P (QHD resolution of 1440p is halved for 3D conversion. Halving 1080p would be even worse).

It's a marketing gimmick and you said your a gamer? Every gamers know we need fps and game's wth fullHd will down fps also even my ps4 games all 1080p. It's a gimmick to make it attractive to customers.

He blind that qhd is a gimmick and he even doesn't believe even the big ceo's in the industry said it it's a gimmick they been in phone business for years. My friend and I compare the so called qhd he has in g3 on my note 3. It's the same and sad thing mine is faster fps than him. It's true qhd eats battery and performance

However they do make note that there are visible pixels because the QHD resolution of 1440p is halved for 3D conversion. Halving 1080p would be even worse.
I think VR has a massive future and Samsung ahead of the competition with the Note 4 on this. The key to the experience seems to be the response rate of the AMOLED screen and the sharpness of QHD.

the simple logic between higher resolution pixel density and gpu work capacity.The mobile gpu has very-2 limited resources to carried with 1440P.
They think the gpu rendering performance will continue sustain if the the display pixel increase like madness.
APPLE decision to maintain screen resolution seems "best" suit at current mobile application and not to sacrifice the performance. Unless the GPU can reach floating point peak 300 Gflops like
tegra K1/ radeon card/geforce card.... and that is different argument.
Why the hell need 1440p screen just for whatapps text reading / internet web browsing/ foto viewing/sosial web interaction with a small size factor of human hand.
Do you do any CAD/photoshop design work in the smartphone?
Do you make any animation 3D film in smartphone?
Do you write an assay/huge article in smartphone?
Do you write hardcore C++ programming in smartphone?
Come on samsung fan..use the brain!!!

even if there wouldn't be such issues
i don't think a QHD is needed on anything smaller than a big tablet or laptop.
the FHD resolution is just the same as QHD(in user experience) on a 5-6" display,that could do better in above 10".
i prefer virtual screens & better batteries.

Nothing change in the note 4 and edge just little side screen added, qhd with is useless again and the price not very attractive for me its all gimmick disappointed what samsung doing I have common sense and I think before buying something useful.

6 inch 1080p its already above 350 ppi, more than enough to the naked human eye.
hell, even "next generation" consoles are struggling to run some games at 1080p, and Samsung want higher resolutions to mobile gaming?
The mobile gpus wont be hable to handle them if this goes on.
And also doesnt matter if you are struggling to play mobile games at 30/60 fps and having like 1hour till the battery drains completely.
Gamer rather have a smooth frame/sec gameplay and hours of battery than an aesthetic difference i will struggle to see and game developers wont bother do even do.

It's pure gimmick one big example is my friends lg g3 it eats the battery fast that's qhd. We compare full hd movie on my note 3 you can see nothing but the same. Qhd is a gimmick.
