Good, dont waste milk on dead babies. And to the whiners, if it was LG or HTC noone would react as they never update lower midrange, strange that Sony owners should be so much more demanding? I think they are not Sony owners after all, just want to bash? Well, theres noting to bash about here, Sony is right to not waste precious developer hours on phones that failed to sell well, put the dev effort where the money is, ie highend, that is Xperia Z and up. Also, they should kill off Z and ZU already, no Android L for those.

Am i the only one who is happy that Sony rather use their developers for things like that Playstation 4 streaming in the Z3 family? Seriously, who would prefer they cancel that and release KitKat for lower midrange like M, L and C instead? Duh... Of course no one want that.

people to blame mediatek are dumb. Its just sony to whom we should blame. That chip could easily have supported newer version of droid. Actually this is what majority of OEMs are doing to suck up our hard earned money. Unfortunately mobile industries are nowadays running over only on such gimmicks called INNOVATION

My last Sony phone was Xperia V. IceCream at launch (it's normal for sony) and no KitKat in 2014.

Everyone who thinks MediaTek is to blame for this is plain wrong, Mediatek released Kitkat drivers in April and Lenovo updated several of their MT6589-based phones to Kitkat months ago, several of which are older than Xperia C.

So blame Sony, it's their fault 100%.

Typical Sony. They never support their low-mid range phones over a year. You'll be lucky to get two year support on their flagships.

This is why I ditched my Xperia S. Sony release too many phones without enough long term support.

not updating xperia m, l and especially the sp was stupid but not updating the c is not sony's fault. there are no newer drivers for this mediatek chipset.

So basically don't buy any low end or mid range Xperia. Samsung is almost as bad but it releases up to date software on most of its midrange - Sony gives you a phone with old software at launch - then makes you wait months for another old software (Xperia Sp received 4.3 update when many were on kitkat) then it says that you will get an update, they then change it to under investigation and then they let you down and say - no update. SP owners have been expecting kitkat for about 6 months and they destroy everyone's hopes. Xperia Sp has an old chipset but great graphics and great power. Just a little low internal memory but it's one of a kind and very cool looking. It beats Xperia M, M2, C etc and as yet there is no suitable replacement - maybe again they want you to buy the z3 compact which does trance any other 4.6 inch screen phone and has latest software. But it's too expensive as a midrange. I don't know why Sony don't bring out a new powerful midrange - but hey Sony must be mad to stop support for their most popular phone.

gplftw, 12 Sep 2014blame mtk for thatNot really, MTK is a load 'n dumb of a SoC design house, you buy something from them you should expect very little in terms of shell life. The low cost is possible for a reason, this is it. To maintain support you need manpower and that means the SoC ends up costing more.

Sony is to be blamed here for choosing MTK when they know MTK's business model.

I've had a few family and friends say they really hate that about Sony and feel really abused as the phones aren't that old…
A 4 yr old iPhone 4s will still get iOS 8…

We should stop buying Sony mobiles. Then they wont take these kind of worst customer support decisions. At least they should provide the update for apps move to sd card option. Time to support Motorola in this aspect.
