Angry Mobile Nerd, 14 Sep 2014Exactly, it's basically 7.7 million people signing up to be... moredon't pretend like you know everything. it's real per-order because you need to pay for it. So 770m means 770m order unless you want to refund, meizu would be love to do so because their capacity is not enough

Unless I missed it, the Meizu MX4 is the same Meizu MX4 you would purchase in China (I visited the site also and there is NO clarification) NOT AN INTERNATIONAL VERSION)

AT WORST YOU COULD BE ONLY 2G

HERE ARE THE MEIZU 4 BANDS
      2G GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
      3G UMTS: 850, 2100 MHz
      FDD LTE: 1800 (band 3), 2600 (band 7) MHz

      http://www.gsmarena.com/meizu_mx4-6627.php

Samsung and Sony "pack" their phones so covering all bandwidths
      3G or HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 (+1700 T-Mobile USA)
      4G LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600

The above S5 and xPeria Z2 which ideally Meizu should specifiy is in the MX4, (I visited the site also and there is NO clarification) NOT AN INTERNATIONAL VERSION) http://www.meizu.com/en/products/mx4spec.html

The Meizu MX4 that will be ship from China is the same as bought in China and if you reside in a country that uses a different band at worst you could only be 2G

Angry Mobile Nerd, 14 Sep 2014Exactly, it's basically 7.7 million people signing up to be... moreFor China domestic market, you need to pay either RMB200 as deposit and collect the phone at Meizu store later. Or pay full and Meizu will courier it to you.
Base on information release by Meizu. That 7 mil orders are mostly from China market, the rest from overseas.
As far I know, XiaoMI is the one that like to falsify demand for their products and deliberately restraining supply. Recently Xiaomi was fined by Taiwan goverment for doing this kind of stunt.

Seriously? These guys have the audacity to jab at Apple's designs when their past phones are clearly iPhone knockoffs?! Say what you will about the iPhone designs of past and present, but it looks like a natural design evolution to me.

AnonD-183154, 14 Sep 2014Pre-order in China don't require payment. It is the same as... moreExactly, it's basically 7.7 million people signing up to be notified when the phone will go on sale and where they can go to buy one. Users only need to give their e-mail address. Basically the international equivalent of a e-newsletter. No deposit, no CC, shipping/location or even the users name has been given or verified.

Totally misleading because technically these aren't real pre-orders. Interesting how Chinese manufacturers always like to falsify demand for their products by doing stunts like this or by deliberately restraining supply.

Pre-order in China don't require payment. It is the same as signing-up for news letter and update in the US.

It would be nice to know what 3G and 4G frequency bands this phone has. GSM arena spec page lists 8 frequencies across 3 network types but on the meizu website it says it's got 13 frequencies across 5 network types, but they don't actually list what those frequencies are.
