512MB RAM, 4GB storage and battery lasts less than a day is the most entry level of smart device.
For sure Google and its allies will release smart watch at least 2GB RAM with 16GB internal memory plus 64GB microSD and battery life lasts for 1 week.

If iphone 6 plus with its 1080p resolution can run just fine with 1 GB RAM, why would Apple watch need 512 MB RAM?

The Gear 2 battery lasts 2 to 3 days. Even though it's not using a dedicated SoC. So I think a lot has to do with optimization. Of cause the Gear 2 runs Tizen, Android seems a bit power hungry.
