The iseeps are fanatics, they dont care about being ripped off.
Thats why when we compare phone sales from now on, we should not compare profits, but devices sold.
A rich man throwing away his man to show off, is not any wiser from the one who makes an educated value for money acquisition.
Profit is good for the company and concerns them, not the client!

I think in the case of the iPhone (and all Apple products), Design and R&D are placed in very high regard. This is my take on one of the reasons for why their products are priced at such a premium, because you're not only paying for the device, but the software; customer support; design and R&D. In addition to advertising.

70% profit margin on iPhone 6 Plus 128GB! Granted I've read the majority of Apple expenses are marketing and after sales support, that still is a lucrative amount.

Here in Brazil the iPhone 5S 64gb arrived costing about 3,499 BRL. One USD here is about 2.40 BRL right now (it's at an maximum). So I need to ask: would you pay nearly 1,400 USD on an 64gb iPhone 5S one year ago?
The 6 would be even more expensive.
