As for keeping things formal, that was their CEO decision to put things back on track since that was originally BB forte.
FYI again, BBX is BB10 just that due to trademark issues BBX cannot be used and thus was simply changed to BB10, X being the roman numeral for 10 but essentially they are still the same OS but just named differently.

Besides i called "BBX" beautiful but not the released version BB10.
NO i didn't said all that because i haven't used a BB10 device, instead i said it BECAUSE i used it, even if now i have apple devices i'm still a blackberry fan after all, IF you did read everything that i wrote you mention such weak points.
but their design is rather "standard" with the icons and everything around the OS itself, its simple, iOS is simple too, but they came up with that design pattern,
The "White-On-Grey" theme through out the system is gorgeous with flat icons.
The BBX looked as if it had that, and i wanted blackberry to have released that OS instead of the one they currently have.
i just wished they would rather go wild with their designs instead of keeping things formal, and then hoping to attract young users... really?

Yes i like unique phones. I bought that lumia 800 becuase it was unique. Bb 7 6 and before that were bs. But bb10 is awesome. Reminds me of N9.

Basically these features you find it on BB10 phones you will not find it on any iPhone or android.

FYI BB10 is probably the most capable mobile platform on the market right now, as for you being a designer you failed to see that part which makes your claims very much controversial.
Based on what you said you are thinking BB10 is an upgraded version of OS7 which in some ways they may look alike but fortunately BB10 is an entirely whole new OS.

they always were.. that's why blackberry OS never seemed to appeal some people because it was too simple yet it had a A* security...
why?
because it was meant for business from the very beguining and not anybody else, however some rich kids thought they could show off their phone since nobody else had, and boom, you already know the story, if your friends have. you gotta have it to, that's what society these days think, they follow what ever sees fit.
the result of that, made blackberry (RIM at the time) try to adopted to a market they did;t have any clue of, in the beginning was great, they fitted like gloves, but as the years went by, people started to follow another trend...
Same thing will happen to Apple, even though they have markets for almost everyone from PC-Phones-Music players-Watches-etc, eventually someone else with a brighter/better/really revolutionary ideals will take over.
why... well theres a lot of stuffs that can make you move on to something else and theres a lot of stuffs that can make you stay in apple, however the stuff that can make you stay are declining a lot, myself included have a lot of apple products but not because they are good (or as i shall put, like most fanboys "best in the world")
no there reason why i didn't switched isn't because apple as the best but simple because nobody else or rather no other company seems to have ANY designer at all, i mean don't get me wrong there are a lot of good designers out there myself included, but how come only apple has decent one?, there are a lot of designer advertising their work on sites such as "Deviantart" with A* quality yet nobody hires them, instead they decide to include, the so called "standard design" from the 80s.
companies should forget their "standard design" and begging to use the concepts they draw, and not just throw away, because those are the most beautiful ones, they need to stop trying to guess what the public wants. and let their designer's mind run wild, apple does that and when they someone else do just like that they will succeed....
want an example, just take a look again at this article...
blackberry stopped prioritising standard designs and started to make unusual ones, that is what i love, however they started to do it so, long after they went red. i personally would join blackberry again, however only design doesn't count, the software needs to be crazy beautiful too, but right now only the hardware is...
remember that leak of the "Blackberry London UI" that was beautiful, i thing apple took some ideas of it, since blackberry end up not using it, opportunities like that makes you lose quickly.
that ui seemed futuristic, unlike the UI they currently have...
as a previous blackberry fan i wouldn't mind to offer blackberry some of my concepts, and or work for them in the designer part completely for free, as long as people get to see and use my design, that's all i need.

BlackBerry is now targeting Business/Enterprise/Governments etc Not consumers but still consumers can buy their smartphones so if you don't like it no one cares go for Unsecured Android or Apple etc.
It is truly a unique design with great innovation.
