Htc guys are crazy . They had got extreme negetive feedback about M7's UP camera , but the crazy Guys Once Again combained A awesme Hardware with the sh**y UP camera and m8 can't archeive what the device deserves because of the camera . now After 6 months they learned and comes with a 13mp shooter probably with the same price tag , Their Action Makes Original M8 Users Fools .

8 or 10 mp with 16:9 aspect ratio sensor should be better. the next generation of 4k monitors and tv's have 8 mp native resolution, so 8 mp ultrapixel ccd is enough to see a photo on these displays. i see all me photos on my 100" inch plasma panasonic tv and those captured with htc one m7, at only 4 mp, looks stunning on 100" tv. no need to zoom, just slide show

Hopefully the Eye will be vailable everywhere and not just in China and India. Why would HTC hold an event in NYC to announce a new phone that will only be sold in 2 countries?

Appart from that they DID improve quality on that 8MP camera! And it's clear that 8MP is the sweet-spot (if the quality is right) and usually prefered if the quality is good.
In fact my 808PV creates FAR better 8MP photo's then ANY of these stupid Sony BSI IMX-camera's
Even at 20MP and in it's third generation that Sony Xperia Z3-camera show less improvement than what Apple did with their 8MP-model in the iPhone 6.
It's unfortunate that Apple to cut costs made that aluminum layer too thin and thus too fragile! For the asking price they should have used some re-inforced aluminum alloy.
Those manufacturers MUST stop making these razorthin fragile smartphones! Half the population has obesity-problems and they make annorexic phones. Doh!

...and HTC still seem to ignore that 4MP photo's are not detailed enough for some people. 8MP is the minimum to get a decent crop from or to print professionally at 300DPI!

You gonna ruin an otherwise nice phone with a the same middle-of-road Sony IMX1xx BSI crappy camera that every chinese crapphone has.
HTC, we DO like the ultra-pixel idea but NOT as a 4MP-camera! Make that Ultra-pixel a 8MP-camera and THEN we will buy that One M8. Like Nokia did with their prureview 808PV (it had 5MP + 8MP pureview-modes of which the latter is the most popular mode). SO please use that one braincell you still have and just upgrade that ultrapixel-camera to an 8MP camera.
Oh, and do it BEFORE 2015! Because already 16MP is the new standaard set for 2015.

I dropped the plan of buying E8/LG G3 for same reason. Waiting for M8 Eye now. Lets see.

Too bad they didn't also bring back OIS. That would have given the One and interesting camera again. As it is, they're just going from having a crappy camera, to having a middle of the road camera.

I think they would have been the best if they continue after butterfly
than suddenly they came with ultra pixel ,that time if they continued even with 8mp they would take the lead
