Around the time of KitKat's launch, I know I have read an article somewhere speculating that following Google's Jelly Bean and KitKat naming scheme their next iterations of their OS versions might be seen in branded codenames, too. I thought of course they could always do such but they simply just can't do so without settling agreements/contracts or even partnerships to the brand they'd choose next.
I also do recall majority commenters speculating Android 5.0 would be called Key Lime Pie in just about every site I visited. Ah, the magic of rumors and the power of suggestion. Lol.
Licorice, Lindt and Lion (choccy bar as someone commented) are all plausible as they do fall under Android's flavors of sweets, candies, confectionaries and desserts. Among the three, Lindt is the more popular term in my 3rd-world Asian country. Even so, Lindt, is an expensive imported brand and is not that much popular amongst our lower middle class and down the social class. I personally have yet to see Lion Bars being sold in major groceries even if we have Nestle importer here.
IMO, selecting Lion could just cause headaches for Google unless they have backup plans to deflect Apple's eyes from them. Pretty sure Google wouldn't want any pressure from them as they intend to launch two new Nexus products with Lollipop out-of-the-box. Even if Google would intend Lion to be used with a diferrent meaning as opposed to which Apple used the Lion term to match the feline theme of some of their OS X versions, it wouldn't end well for Google.
Then it occurred to me, why another chocolate brand or term for a major Android version update? Observing their version naming pattern, they tend to diversify them as not to be similar with each other. That way we would see less of people questioning their ceativity when it comes to deciding a version name. Honestly, I applaud whoever person or team behind the choosing of Lollipop as latest version name. They could give people wanting Mars (bar) for Android 6 smiles and hopes unless they are literally dropping branded names for future versions. While I'm not against another choccy branded version, I could only leave Google freely to decide version names they desire. But maybe if in the near future that they name their next version as some type of choccy or another choccy brand, by then, I'd recognize them for their chocolate obssession. Lol :-)

Dpx, 15 Oct 2014Good move! Lollipop is so much cooler than Lion.
And this ... moreAnd even better than that is the idea there isn't a hidden commercial agenda for "naming" deals, be it with Nestle (Kitkat and Lion) or anyone else.
Not that it would matter too much, but it does make a difference to some.
