Apple Pay now live in the Netherlands

Yordan, 11 June 2019

Apple Pay is available in 39 countries and territories, and today it has officially expanded to one more - the Netherlands. The ING Dutch brandch announced last month it will start supporting Apple Pay and today it finally happened - you can add your card to the Apple Wallet and pay cardless at all compatible stores.

ING is the largest retail bank by market share in the Western European country, with nearly 40% of all current deposits. It has already set up a support page in Dutch and accompanying videos on its website. Setting it up is easy - customers only need to enable Apple Pay in the ING Mobile Banking app, and then select which banking account they want to use.

The expansion to the Netherlands brings availability to the whole Benelux region, after Luxembourg also joined the team last month. There is no info if any other major banks like Rabobank or ABN AMRO are planning to support Apple Pay. While the rollout should be effortless, there might be slight hiccups during the setup process in the first few days.
