LG unveils Disney-themed, Swarovski-studded droid

09 June, 2015

Here's something I didn’t think I'd see – a Disney-themed, Swarovski-studded smartphone. It's an NTT DoCoMo exclusive and comes with the iconic Mickey Mouse silhouette on the front flip cover (a version of LG's Quick Circle cases) that also brandishes several Swarovski crystals swirling around the equally iconic Cinderella's Castle, you'd recognize from every Disney movie intro.

Mickey Mouse got some bling

The phone is actually pretty capable, similar to the LG G2. It features a 5.2" 1080p screen, but tops its predecessor with Snapdragon 801 chipset (up from 800) with 2GB of RAM, it also has 16GB of storage (8GB user available). It will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop with the latest LG UX and custom Disney themes (The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and, of course, Frozen).

On the back there's a 13MP camera with keys below it and laser autofocus, the front camera is a more modest 2.4MP shooter. Below the back cover is a removable 2,920mAh battery.

The whole thing measures 144 x 74 x 10.8mm and weighs 149g and features some waterproofing.

For now the Disney-themed LG is exclusive to Japan. It's not clear if it will launch elsewhere or if LG will make flip cases with Mickey's silhouette on front (it's kind of practical, we guess, it shows two additional watchfaces). A similar phone – in terms of specs anyway – is available as the LG G3 A in South Korea.

at least samsung put the spec the same as s6 while LG choose to downgrade it to G3. As for price points, guess that swarovski crystal still gonna make it pricy.
