Latest beta update for BlackBerry Priv brings November security patch

Himanshu, 05 November 2016

BlackBerry has started pushing out a new beta update to its Priv smartphone. The update, which is hitting all Priv units except those on Verizon's network, brings along Android security patch for the month of November.

It weighs in at around 98MB and bumps the firmware version to AAH505. Here's the complete statement from the Canadian company:

Today's update brings news that AAH505, our candidate to be the official November security patch update, is now available to beta participants on all devices (except Verizon variants) to begin testing. Depending on the build you're coming from, this will either be a relatively small patch download or a very large full download. If you don't see the update available, open up the phone dialer and punch in *#*#CHECKIN#*#* then check for updates again.

Well I stand corrected... It seems like some releases it even before Google makes it official, see this article: http://www.gsmarena.com/x-news-21482.php

More accurately, the Friday following the release from Google that usually comes on first Monday of the month. If they keep this up, it is a quite good track record. :)
