Apple's next batch of software updates for all of its devices are coming in exactly one week from today, on October 25.

That's when we'll see the release of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1, and macOS Monterey. These new versions are required for the new AirPods announced today, which incidentally will start shipping the day after the software launch, on October 26.

macOS Monterey is also the software that will be powering the newly announced 14" and 16" MacBook Pro with the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets. These will become available - you guessed it - on October 26 too.

So it turns out that a rumor from last week actually nailed the release date. iOS 15.1 is expected to have support for SharePlay, which will let you remotely watch and listen to streaming content with your friends via FaceTime. Additionally, expect ProRes video support, and the ability to add COVID-19 vaccination documents to the Wallet app. Of course, bug fixes for issues identified in iOS 15 should also be in.
