Where should I begin, it is a very beautiful mobile phone that you can't find everywhere on the street. The exclusiveness is really high here. I bought this phone in Dec 2008 and it still works properly (never froze even for once!) and it is in excellent condition (to be honest I'm taking care of it sometimes too much), I could count only 2 very little (not to be seen) scratches on it - very solid built with the best materials (not cheap plastic like other phones nowadays). I love the simplicity of the design, too! It looks fantastic on my hand and it weights just comfortably right, neither too heavy nor too light. And the size fits perfectly, too.

I bought it for my personal collection and it is well worth it for me. I was looking for a phone with a little touch of luxury yet quite affordable (it was about 1k € at that time). Yes, 8800 Arte is NOT full of apps, high tech features, etc. But it is also NOT MEANT TO BE MARKETED that way. It is made for those who appreciate the beauty of arts and contemporary design with a little bit luxury in it.

I wish I can upgrade to the Vertu in the future if there is anything interesting. Vertu's design for now is way either too rustic or too futuristic for my taste.

I am sad that 8800 Arte is not in the market anymore, so I now must take care of it even more. :)

I really love all about Nokia 8800 Arte. I bought it for personal hobby in Dec '08 and it's still working properly (never had any single problem, never froze up, not even once) and in a very very good condition, but I must confess that I take care of it (sometimes) too much. It is built super solid (not a plastic one like other mobiles nowadays), which I like, and the design is timeless! I love the simplicity of it.

This cellphone is NOT marketed to everyone, I know for sure, there are some folks asking why it can be so expensive although it lacks of "super modern tech". Nokia 8800 Arte is made for those who appreciate arts, simple yet timeless design and a little bit luxury. It might not be suitable for "high tech" folks. It is also NOT a matter of age group, I was 20 when I first bought it, so don't bother what people say it's for "oldies".

Last year I bought Blackberry Torch 9800 for "staying up to date" with the high tech features and easy communication via BBM as I now start doing my business here in Indonesia (BB is very popular among Indonesians). To be honest, I like it much less than 8800 Arte. It is freezing up almost all the time. The design is just okay (the best for BB though), poorly built (out of plastic), IMHO overpriced for what you get.

Last thing but not least, please beware of fake ones! Better buy it directly through authorized Nokia shops. I know it is now disconnected, but sometimes some shops would still have it in stock, just ask them. I luckily bought one for my uncle in last January on my business trip to Germany.

This is a beautiful and simple phone. What a phone should really be. I own both the oiginal 8800 and the 8800 Arte. The Arte costs over RM4000 whereas the Sapphire Arte is over RM5000. Even the original 8800 in silver was sold for nearly RM3000. But these are very good phones. Be careful about buying a fake one though. Those on ebay which ships from China or Hong Kong are all fakes. Even the comment earlier that someone bought from zionpower.webs.com at USD399, is definitely trying to promote a fake phone. 8800 listed on zionpower.webs.com are obviously fake phones. I know because i have been using the 8800 for years, and i ordered one online years back for the sake of comparison, and obviously, it is fake, as verified by Nokia. And trust me, the slider mechanism on the original silver 8800 itself with the ball bearings costs over RM1000. The housing alone for the 8800arte is well above RM800 (last week's Nokia's price). But it is worth it for the quality, simplicity and elegance of the phone.
