I'd say this phone is almost perfect if someone wants a smooth experience without getting a flagship processor for gaming. For me the only weakness are the cameras... photos look very yellowish and a bit flat compared to my old Samsung a52s 5G.

justasmile, 13 Mar 2024More optimised, and better update frequency than Moto.Literally nothing (lol) to prove that Nothing's OS is more optimized than Moto. Both are stock and both are really good in terms of optimization when compared with other Chinese alternatives. Agreed about the update frequency, Moto is lagging behind big time. Then again, in this case I'd still pick faster hardware (Edge 40) over more updates (Nothing 2a).

Even by default you can assign settings shortcuts (open widgets -> settings -> select which toggle you'd like). Pedometer? I don't know much about "cool looking" ones, but Google Fit or basically any health app (like Samsung Health) allow you to set widgets for steps, calories burnt etc. which is directly synced from your wearable.

Personally, I do not like the design. It is perfect for a midranger though.

Its a budget spec....some of it quite dated...and while refresh rate is 120hz the resolution is 1080x2412 and 394ppi....usb 2.0. Its just another budget phone with some hype and pretty lights thrown in. ALSO....Mediatek lol. It could so easily be on Aliexpress.

justasmile, 11 Mar 2024Did you also read what I said, the tons more widget options?I thought those depend on the apps you use? The usual widgets like clock, calendar, weather etc. are available on all phones. What else does Nothing offer apart from the usual ones? Again, I'm not talking about lockscreen widgets but normal widgets, the ones you put on the home screen.

hippo2s, 11 Mar 2024No, doesn't make sense. UFS is the speed of the memory... moreWhen people say UFS 2.2 will age faster, they don't mean it will physically deteriorate at a faster rate. That doesn't make sense.

But what commonly happens is that as Android and its apps become more and more demanding, UFS 2.2 may not hold up as well as 3.1. eMMC was the norm for older smartphones and back then they ran fine, but in the present day they are just too slow and almost unusable for most use cases. Right now, the difference between 2.2 and 3.1 is already noticeable on most apps, and this difference can only get bigger in the future.

A very unusual device at an incredible price

Nein, 07 Mar 2024Thermals are horrible on plastic, on the other hand, wirele... morePolycarbonate* (yes a type of plastic but not the plastic that people are thinking of) has far better heat resistance than the metals that are used (except maybe ceramic, thats the best material for a phone with good heat dispersion, best heat resistence and far stronger/better endurance than the metals used).

Metal used disperse heat better than polycarbonate (which actually expands when heated up, an fyi police battons/night sticks use/used to use polycarbonate) but is about as durable and is far worse at heat resistence (really, metal has a more premium feeling) and with a decent passive cooling solution should be able to keep a SoC running at maximum for longer without throttling than polycarbonate.

Glass, glass is just awful, id go back to aluminium backs with either a polycarbonate/ceramic frame or polycarbonate antenna lines etc than EVER have a glass back anymore (plus the most slippy material is glass). My 2 favourite phones ive owned/held are the lg g5, xiaomi note 5 ai dc, both aluminium backs.
