The lack of gsm voice/text capability makes this a purely gaming device that would be useless in about a year.

Picked up my LTE model last week, ordered a poetic case off amazon for it just now. I have the controller and cover for it, but cover for nothing to protect back side. After its all set up and loaded, it rocks, 64gb SD card and it's nearly full already.
Nvidia games are a cut above, blood people away when they what this tablet can do, for something they never heard of before lol.

U can't even have watsapp. There is a bigger isse that airtel gives 4g at 2300 band and this tablet does not support 2300 band. If u r not a rich game wait till international version with voice call comes

Nvidia's website clearly tells us that 2g 3g and 4g facilities are available but then voice calling is not available. this is because of google's decision to remove the dialler app from the software. Moreover google wants to promote the use of its app called 'Hangouts'. I really wish they bring it back in lollipop.

Well, I want voice calls too. Let's see if we get them with the Lollipop update (for the record, I haven't received mine yet so I don't know if it has voice calls or not).

I got it couple of days ago and there are no options of making or receiving gsm voice calls. The OS is missing a dialer component and custom dialers give error - voice dialing not supported. It came with a factory inserted SIM card from AT&T, though.
NVIDIA support says there is no voice version on the market.
I think all LTE tablets with DATA ONLY should emphasize that. It's an unnecessary flaw for otherwise great tablet.
I'm taking mine back, because gsm voice calling is one of the main reasons, I need a tablet.

WHAT CELLULAR NETWORKS DOES THE SHIELD TABLET LTE SUPPORT?
There are three versions of SHIELD tablet LTE. There is a North American version that works on AT&T, T-Mobile and Rogers on LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, and 17 and HSPA bands 1, 2, 4, 5.
There is a second International version that works on popular European and Asian networks. It supports LTE bands 3, 7, 20 and HSPA+ bands 1, 2, 5, 8.
The third version also works on popular International carriers, in addition to including voice support on compatible networks. It supports LTE bands 1, 3, 7, 20 and HSPA+ bands 1, 2, 5, 8.
DOES THE SHIELD TABLET LTE SUPPORT VOICE?
There is a version of the international SKU that supports voice on compatible networks, available for purchase in select regions.
They don't list the regions though...
