:o( ... have just received the Xda ignito and (why does this not surprise me!) it doesn't seem to work: when the Pocket mobile screen launches and it asks you to callibrate the screen it accepts the first 'tap' but when it moves to the next screen with the 'x' it won't acknowledge any more taps and just freezes.

Please advise folks: I work with a Blackberry at work - do I just send this back and ask for a Blackberry? I worked for O2 for many years and in those days Xda's NEVER worked (my sister even had one a couple of years ago for her work and sent it back because it was poor on call connection). Despite knowing all this stuff and having a bad feeling, I let them talk me into it thinking after all these years they MUST have got it right by now. There is obviously something wrong with it anyway, and it will have to go back, so if I've got the chance to change it should I go for Blackberry? I need to send high volumes of texts and emails so if I have something that isn't going to work, it's going to drive me nuts. What do you think folks?

(*and PS: V is absolutely correct about O2, they are a network service provider and do not manufacture phones. They partner with other companies to do so (and do not own those companies). O2's history is that it was originally Cellnet, became BT Cellnet in a take-over from BT, absorbed Martin Dawes Telecoms, and during the difficult times BT had, BT changed it's name from BT Cellnet to O2 and floated it as an independent company).

Very Stylish phone, it is a really shame the battery life is so poor, it makes it fairly unusable when out and about unless it is plugged into car lighter.

I ought to confirm that it comes with the flat back/battery cover and the smaller 4.5hr talk time 800mAh battery...booo! It does have an in-car charger included though!

Got this on upgrade yesterday and it's awful. Perhaps if you're a regular WinMo user you might get along with it, but all the hoo-har about TouchFLO is unfounded -yes, there are improvements to previous pocket PCs, but it's not really possible to operate it without the stylus and it's soooo slow. I understand it does a hell of a lot more than most phones (watched a YouTube vid on it last nigh...v. good) but the basics are pretty shoddy. I would be wary about swithing to this if youve never had a Windows based handset before. Watch for mine on eBay!!

                      Why the ratings are different?
                      - not the same people rate it
                      - if you buy the real thing (HTC) you get a unit working as it was designed
                      - if you buy it with O2, you get a useless operator SW, that not only takes up space but also limits the functionality. Specially when you are roaming....

Yes, HTC is a mobile manufacturer and O2 is a mobile service provider. And YES they are also sister companies.

V, what sister companies means in simple english is that they are working together/ collaborating each other to produce the needs of each party.ok. Now, if you think those two arent sister companies, why is this handset produced??? made by HTC branded by O2???

Its the same with HTC and Tmobile. MDA Vario VII.

                                  what an airhead.

all this is the HTC Diamond with 02 branding, which is basically what most UK Phone companies do, its not a copy of the original, its exactly the same with 02's software incorporated into the software design of the phone, basically how tmobile have called this Phone the "T-Mobile MDA Compact IV" this is what 02 have decided to call it, the why do some people think its 02's version of the htc touch diamond, its exactly the same!!!!!!!
