Our nubia Red Magic 6R video review is out

The Red Magic line from nubia has provided some stellar hardware for considerably less gaming phones from the likes of Asus and Lenovo. The latest addition is the Red Magic 6R and we’re bringing our video review of the device for your attention.

With its 6.67-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, the Red Magic 6R is in the upper echelon of the refresh rate game but still falls short of its predecessor’s 165Hz panel. It’s still an excellent panel with good colors which goes up to 770 nits of brightness.

The 6R’s design is a definitely more subtle than previous Red Magic phones with a glass back and oddly shaped camera cutout. We’re quite fond of the choice here and the phone’s aluminum frame certainly helps it feel solid. Another visual change is the punch hole cutout for the 16MP selfie cam compared to the uniform bezels of past models.

At around $499/€499, the Red magic 6R is one of the more affordable devices with a Snapdragon 888 chipset on the market. Throw in the capacitive shoulder triggers, up to 12GB RAM and the sustained performance even during high demanding games and you got a mighty pocket machine.

One area of disappointment is the 76-hour endurance rating coming from the 4,200 mAh battery. Chinese units of the 6R come with 50W charging but our global model arrived with a 30W brick. The 64MP main cam is the same as on the Red Magic 6 and produces impressive shots. The 8MP ultrawide shots are not that inspiring.
