Pokemon Go finally arrives in Japan

Vlad, 22 July, 2016

The worldwide sensation that is Pokemon Go has finally been made officially available in Japan, the birthplace of Pokemon. This comes after the game has already launched in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe.

The Japanese launch was delayed for a couple of days to make sure the servers would handle the added load, but it's happened today. As expected, there's a tie-in with McDonald's in Japan, which makes most of its 3,600 restaurants over there either Pokestops, Gyms, or both. Oh, and Happy Meals with Pokemon toys are already on offer in Japan.

In the future you should expect to see many more of these sponsorship deals, especially as the game itself is free for anyone to download and play. Speaking of which, if you're in Japan you can go and grab Pokemon Go from the iTunes App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android.
