Xiaomi launched Redmi 12 in Thailand earlier this month, and we received the phone in our HQ for a review. According to sources, the entry-level smartphone is not widely available, but it might soon be launched in India.

The phone will have market-specific software V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM, as revealed by Xiaomiui. Since the customized software is now finalized, it is up to Redmi India to schedule a launch for the local audience.

The software is distinctively Indian, indicated by the IN letter in the version number. We have the same device, but our unit comes with the letters EU in the same place, as we are reviewing a unit for the European market. Differences usually are in languages available and some market-specific details, such as the default browser and whether some apps can or cannot be preinstalled.

Redmi 12 is a fine smartphone for LTE-dominant markets with a Helio G88 chipset and up to 8 GB RAM. It comes with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP main camera and will cost about €200 to European customers. Customers in India might get it cheaper, but we have to wait for the official launch to take place to know for sure.

Or an Helio G99. It's fabrication at 6nm, quite better to handle the heat.
