Nokia Lumia 630/635 review: Bottom up

23 May 2014
One of the first phones to launch straight to Windows Phone 8.1, the Lumia 630 is also the first to bring dual-SIM support to the platform. That said, we should note right at the start that we’re reviewing the regular, single-SIM version...

AnonD-158242, 23 May 2014Yup..budget wise Moto e is good....what made you think...it... moreBut the fact is I'm getting an android with 1 GB of ram in less than the price what they've priced for a WP 512 Mb device.

Yeah the OS plays a major role here. But I feel like they should have put a gig of ram instead of 2013's 512 Mb. I still not care about flash and front camera.

Sound quality tests please. You guys also forgot to update the 1020 for sound tests as well. If you wouldn't mind please a note to test the 630 with and without a amp.
Thanks I really appreciated how you guys mentioned the Note 3 was better sounding than the 1520 with headphones attached but the Nokia 1520 sounded better than the Note 3 through a amplified source. Any audiophile will carry at least a $250 plus amp at all times.
Looking to pick up a cheap phone after my note 3 passed. Willing to try windows 8.1 till note 4. Galaxy $ series is a joke. Note ftw.

In this day and age, 512 RAM is rubbish for Windows and for Android. OK, windows is a more efficient OS than Android, but certainly not Blackberry. MS has improved Windows and no doubt will get better but please Nokia do not patronise the consumer with a lowly 512RAM that in no time will frustrate the consumer and work against you in the long run.

I wonder why don't they mention the L620 at all, considering this L630 is the descendant of that phone....

AnonD-92238, 23 May 2014Really Microsoft+Nokia ??! No camera flash, no front came... moreGlance screen is missing though, still can be lived without and this phone has 'Sensor core' made by Nokia and it acts in place of proximity sensor and definetely does its job. Who knows in further update we might see double tap to wake/Glance in 630. And btw the battery is pretty good will easily last you through a day with alot of net browsing, whatsapp etc..

Only wish it had the front cam. Otherwise, it's a solid entry-level offering.

IMO this is a far better buy than any budget android at the same price point. With Wp8.1 on board it might move a few more units than the L520

The new successor of the Lumia 520, with a low price-tag and very nice specs with WP8.1. It will be a good phone.

                            Really Microsoft+Nokia ??!
No camera flash, no front camera in 11k was good in 2013 (L520), it's still bearable in 2014, but no ambient light sensor, no double tap to wake, no glance screen. Is it a joke ?

Microsoft is showing it's true colour.

The core in that phone is far better than it's price, + it has a gig of ram + price of Moto e is more than 3k less than L630 in India.

I would consider someone stupid if he says Lumia 630 is a better phone between these two.

My comment is based on WP 8.1 preview's default music player. Don't know if L630 has different music player as default

What about playlists creation for songs? Has it been improved now with 8.1? Can we now create a new playlist and add songs easily to it from the phone instead of doing this from a PC?

Is not Nokia anymore is Microsoft. Optional dual-SIM support, 1,830 mAh is not a lot...coz is dual.
But why only 512 ? I know is Windows Phone but even here in 2014 is not enough...typical example - games. Ok but where is flash and dedicated camera key ?! Weak phone.
