Don't buy it, trust me not worth it.
If you compare with iphone 6 the spec looks kinda same, but in real life they're like heaven (iphone 6) and hell (asus padfone x).
But, if you want to have a phone with a bunch of unnecessary things running on the background that makes your phone slow and overheat, go ahead and buy it.
Side note: my pad is broken, bring the pad to service center and they didn't know how to fix it. Amazing!

compact "notebook"? no - android can never be a proper OS for a notebook. if you review said "tablet" that would be enough.

Other brands also reviewed this type of device but they didn't commercialized it because people prefer having a phone and a tablet in separate to all-in-one. There are also some disadvantages like heavier weight of tablet attached with a separate phone. Anyway, this must be a good idea to save resources.

Here in Taiwan we can get an advanced version of this slate (Padfone S with Snapdragon 801) at less than $320 :)

Wish it had a 3000+ mah battery. It would've splashed everyone out of water.

AnonD-6268, 22 Jul 2014asus needs to update their design. it's getting boring. BUT... moreThe phone looks like a Apple product... Very ugly.

@streetlife No, it requires the phone to be attached with the tablet.

'Due to the fact that we received a pre-production unit for our review, we didn't test the audio quality of the Asus PadFone X'

Do you plan on getting the actual final product and giving us the audio results?

                                i stopped reading at " 2,330 mAh built-in battery"

it's sad knowing that there are more and more phones makers go the apple way with their non-removable battery phones.
                                :(

Great idea, let's build a 12 inch tablet with only a 10 inch screen. Those bezels look absolutely awful.
