Samsung Galaxy Alpha preview: First look

13 August 2014
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a surprising change in the Samsung product strategy. It certainly has many of the Galaxy S5 key selling features, while staking on more premium material such as aluminum. But it’s not another flagship, no, it’s rather an offshoot of the Galaxy family tree – something that the Galaxy S5 mini could have been but is not. An unusual bird, indeed.

What really made Samsung so successful is that they focus more on utility and less on design. Why did this desperate need to use metal lead to a smaller battery and omission of Micro SD slot!

Moto g with slightly smaller 4.5 inch screen, almost same pixel density has 2070 mha battery. 54h endurance rating. Already a bit below average if it were released in 2014. So this phone, larger screen has 1860 mha battery? Endurance rating 40-45h?? If we are lucky!

It's a failed Opportunity really, to make a phone to rival the designs of the iPhone, HTC One M8 and the Sony Z2.
It's another case of Samsung trying to strangle the market.

They should make an "Alpha+" with 3Gb and FullHD, and they would have a really interesting phone to compete with the iphone 6 and the Z3Compact
