Xiaomi Mi 3 review: The way of the dragon

15 August 2014
Xiaomi one of the largest smartphone vendors in its homeland - China - and it's one of the most popular Asian mobile brands. It has given the world the popular user-friendly MIUI for Android. But the crown jewel, of course, is their current flagship phone – the Xiaomi Mi 3.

"Xiaomi one of the largest smartphone vendors in its homeland - China "

...it is not simply "one of the largest" - since last quarter it is THE LARGEST smartphone vendor in China.

Hi, just a few corrections required in the review
      1. The video records at 1080x1920 @ 60fps and not at 30fps.(mentioned in the video recording column of camera review page.)
      2. The camera is supported by a dual led flash & not single led (first line in the camera review page)
And thank you so much for the review. Waiting for it!

That seems like a lot of bezel on the top and bottom.

I also have a mi 3. Its really an awesome phone. I would like to mention here that the phone can record videos at 60fps now. I have confirmed it multiple times. I am on the chinese developer rom which is based on kitkat 4.4.4. Kindly rectify this in the review. I can provide a sample if required.

..its truly awesome phone!!! Even not considering the price point as a selling criteria, still it has right mix of great ingredients to make it a superb product! Me being a hardcore Nokia-fan, was missing having Android on Nokia and was eagerly waiting to replace my N8,... Mi3 came at right time!!.....and yes seriously lucky to be one of the 10% registered users who proudly own this piece of wonderful hardware! Thanks to Flipkart.
Pros: Nokia design/build quality, iPhone's fluid UI and with Android !!! What else you want??? :)
Cons: More RAM usage by MIUI, when its less than 200mb, I saw even gallery app was crashing! But otherwise even at 300mb RAM, everything is butter smooth! Heard latest stable ROM v23 has been optimized for RAM usage, yet to update and try.
BTW eagerly waiting for MIUI 6, which is releasing tomorrow for beta testing! :))

I've been holding back to grab this phone since its arrival in India, the reason being - I was skeptical of its camera performance. Now that I've seen the camera review, I might just grab one very soon.
