I would've loved the chance to get a Sony Z3 Compact, but since I'm on AT&T in the USA, that's not going to happen. I have a Moto G 4G LTE which I love, but because the battery is embedded, I would like a device of similar size and a bigger battery. Thought my dreams came true when Motorola released this, then found out it's only on Verizon. Just my luck.

I think reviewers are being too generous when they claim "there is a lot of detail" in the shots. There is less detail, there is clear evidence of over-processing to remove noise. Everything is soft and hardly ever sharp. They could use some over-sharpening like Samsung employs.

The IM webbrowsing time is very good for QHD AMOLED along with talk time which is insane but the weakness as always with Motorola is the video play back time. For an AMOLED it behaves rather oddly like an IPS LCD almost tracking with what it gives on web tests. Video play back should be yielding much more time if it can do so well on IM/Web tests, at least another 4-5 hrs. Either driver optimization is decidedly weak or they have doing something funky with the backplane for the AMOLED panel

Wow look at those dated wallpapers and clock widgets.

They couldn't be further from current UI design language trends.

I was expecting much more. Note 4 has bigger display, smaller battery and got 17h for video.

I don't get it. The Z3 Compact Battery life is 16:40 3G, 14:52 Web and 15:03 Video; and the total score is 101h. Now the Droid Turbo is 30:09 3G, 11:31 Web and 13:41 Video; for a total score of 90h. How? Is the Z3 Compact actually better than the Droid Turbo?

It really looks ugly. I can't get it why Motorola returned to prior-Moto X design that's a few years old now.

                          And capacitive buttons? WTF?

chris, 10 Nov 2014Thought it would be 110+ hrs. Obviously 90h isn't bad though.Battery life is good but it's behind Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. And its form factor is creepy and it looks ugly sitting beside the lovely Z3 and Z3C.

I always liked Motorola. We have grown up with the razr. Great fon for the cool guys this time. Now im happy to see a great device of Motorola again. I will buy the moto maxx, same thing. Maybe im wrong but its just a cool high tech thing what old school guys wanna have. Tnx moto. Im tired of the mainstream things, good materials, who cares about plastic and glass. Go ur way moto, europe and many other parts of the world will love it.
