HTC One M9 review: One up

23 March 2015
One of the hottest bodies in business just got hotter, in time for next season. Touched-up and brushed-down, the HTC One M9 arrives spot on time third year in a row, looking like a celebrity and acting like a pro. There's an engine boost and upgrades...

taking things to a practical side:
okay its not a change in design but a refined one(have been hearing abt those htc bar bezel. in the same way one could say why is even samsung printing their name on top of the screen?)

an avg user wont notice the difference b/w the resolution(conparing s6) until one is good for bragging.

then they improved on the camera giving you best of both world with a very nice front camera too.

speakers unbeatable

sense7 is as smooth as hell

Yes being an legit htc follower i condemn that they cud have changed the design but then again its not a bad one.

i own m7, my brother has m8. for sure we'll b thinking doubtly abt the upgrade but for the new users design is enough contemplating + microsd + nice interface + speakers + decent battery life + uh-oh protection not to forget.

For me : i was just a bit critical about camera when initial impressions were not good. but that being resolved after reading the review, i wud say hands down htc is winner coz they improved where it was lacking till last year.

Disappointing battery life. Worse everytime compared to M8.

GSM Arena gave it a decent 62 hour rating but too much emphasis on talk time. The 7-8 hours for Wi-Fi and video playback is not very good.

Phone Arena is much more accurate at the SOT and closer to the Tweaker score. 6 hrs and 25 min. M9 is just a good but not a great one with very average battery life. It won't have the lasting appeal like the previous two and will be easily forgotten during the second half of 2015.

Phone to beat so far is S6 edge. The 2014 crop is still superior to battery life than the 2015 crop so far.

Ooh new m9 review "Hot" off the presses. Can't wait to read it!

Yep, I'm glad Asus developed the Zenfone 2 this year :)

I plan on staying far away from anything Qualcomm for a while until they get their crap together. This SD810 crap is disgraceful...Apple and Samsung are laughing all the way to the bank. Sony will follow in HTC's footsteps because they have an idiot in charge as well. Horrible battery life considering the battery an old SD600 series S4 Pro in the Xperia ZR has the same efficiency as this thing. This is sad, people.

Zenfone ZE550ML all the way, baby!

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2015 Screen and Camera: Samsung - Definitely right Build ... moreI think in terms of camera, Lumia devices are the best.

And for battery performance, i believe Sony will hold the crown. There's no way sammy will win the title in this case. Screen quality on Samsung is the best no doubt.

Performance wise, there is nothing like stock Android version. I am not talking about benchmarks. I am talking bout daily usages.

HTC holds the crown for build and audio quality without any doubt.

But thats my opinion. Personally, I am a Sony fanboy. :-)

Screen and Camera: Samsung - Definitely right

Build quality: HTC - Debatable. Lots of reviewers said the S6 felt like a luxury car while HTC phones felt like a non-luxury car.

Battery: Sony - Not likely for this year. That title will probably go to Samsung if SONY goes with the SD 810.

Performance: Google Nexus - Samsung again.

The screen, battery life, and low-light camera are all worse than the M8. It's enough for anandtech to say that M8 might be a better phone.

AnonD-354781, 23 Mar 2015It's due to the SoC drawing more power. Also S6 uses AMOLED which can save up a lot of energy.

HTC should at least go back to 3000+ mAh battery like they did with the Butterfly s and One Max.

1080p video at 60FPS looks fantastic.

                                  Audio quality test is missing.

Last year phones had great battery life. Endurance rating hit 100+ and most of phones were around 80. Now, S6 and M9 has very low battery capacity. I thought this year we'd see 130 hR endurance phone, but I'm highly disappointed. Will stick to NL1520 and S5.

HTC tried to cheat the benchmark and got scores way higher than it should.

Samsung really knocked it out of the park with the S6 and the 7420.
