Asus Zenfone Selfie review: Vanity light

6 November, 2015
The Asus Zenfone Selfie has got to be the company’s most straightforward attempt at product naming. Sure, it does have the mandatory 7-symbol alphanumeric model string at its tail, which means zip to the uninitiated, but unlike the piles of different Zenfone 2’s, in this case a simple Selfie will suffice to describe the specific model.

Eddie, 13 Nov 2015I like your review, it's pretty explanatory and very detail... moreThe J7 review uses samsung exynos which is an octacore prossesor clocked at 1.5ghz that's why benchmark of j7 is higher than selfie.

Rayne , 14 Nov 2015simple!! it's all about software optimization NO, because ASUS selfi's Screen has 1920*1080 resolution but 1280*800 for J7.
that's why the benchmarks are not fair.

They should start considering a different design language.

It's starting to get pretty boring..

AnonD-445785, 13 Nov 2015so non-removable battery is almost common to all android ph... moreyup. the phone is as good as having the battery non replacable because it is UNAVAILABLE. I use my phone to read a lot and a single battery wont cut it, and I dont want to use power banks.

I guess their strategy is to just sell as many Zenfones every year, replace replace replace.

And if you want to get extra batteries, you can buy an entire new set. Sigh...

Profit is all they care about. Disposable phones...

so non-removable battery is almost common to all android phones I wonder how long will it last how many years you can use it or the big question is can you replace it if indeed the battery is unusable anymore or you cant charge it all! so are we going to dispose the device because of the battery is non-removable that would like throwing your 200-300 dollars close eyes!

I like your review, it's pretty explanatory and very details. But I have a question:
Your review unit is 32gb storage and 3gb ram asus zenphone selphies. I can't understand why the majority of the performance benchmark of this phone has lower performance than Samsung J7 which has only 16gb 1.5gb Ram. Both of them used the same chipset of Snapdragon 615 while the CPU of Selfies is Quadcore 1.5Ghz Cortex A53 and Quadcore 1.11Ghz Cortex A53 while the J7 CPU is 1.4Ghz cortex A53 and Quadcore 1.0Ghz Cortex A53. Can you explain how this make difference for the majority of benchmark?

ithehappy, 06 Nov 2015LOL! OEMs are making selfie phones now, nice. Why though... moretotally. like most camera apps will let you use the volume keys as a shutter button, so i dont see how taking rear-cam selfies are that hard to neccesitate a high-res front cam.

anyway, whatever happened to the zenfone zoom? that phone would make way more sense than this.

Unavailable battery = basically non replaceable battery.

The review should mention this, because having a replaceable battery is a feature ONLY works if there are actual batteries available to be bought, but this phone doesn't. I know. I checked.

Of course, you could replace the battery with other things...gum, paper, chocolate...but an Asus Zenfone Selfie battery...well..you have to buy a new Zenfone selfie phone to get another battery..

So if owners of this the selfie and the laser want replaceable batteries, I suggest you bug Asus or else you will just have to replace your phone when the battery can't keep a charge.

I read the reviews now only, and I'm not very much surprised. I am using it for about 1 month and really enjoying it. Admit it,it is the best for bucks in it's price range. Camera improvements are still coming through updates. Also we might get Android M. Buy this if you have mid-budget. :)
