Samsung Galaxy S7 review: A refinement act

11 March, 2016
Close your eyes and picture the Samsung Galaxy S6, but the way you wanted it to be, not the way it came out. Now open them and look at the Galaxy S7. Better? Let’s see.

"there's no sign of the A9 (2016)'s secondary symbols upon long press" Bad... I don't understand why for so many years it is so difficult for Samsung to give such option in keyboard settings. It's not difficult to implement an could be useful for many users, but unfortunately Samsung is not paying attention to details. It took years to redesign terrible looking blue colored pull down settings/notification area. So, let's hope it won't take them decades to add secondary symbols on keyboard....

Battery life rating (80h) is just similar to s6e+ (83h) and note 5 (85h) despite they have much larger display.

Will you make a performance test and battery test of SD820 variant?

        One one suggestion GSMArena,
There should be a link to switch back to the review after you enter the comments section. Clicking on the review title does nothing. The only workaround seems that you gotta hit the browser's back button.
        Using Chrome on Android.

AnonD-111717, 12 Mar 2016i can't believe Always On Display takes that much battery, ... moreLG wasn't lying when they said they feel their always on is better than AMOLED. That endurance tanks once you turn it on for the S7. Still looking forward to the LG G5 review, but as long as it scores a 70-80 in battery endurance, there's no way I'd even consider an S7 this year. The other options are P9, HTC 10, and the offerings from Xiaomi and Meizu

Sorry Sammy. AMOLED isn't nearly as good as you make the technology out to be.

i can't believe Always On Display takes that much battery, about 1% per hour is insane.
even LG G5's only takes 0.8% per hour, and it's not an OLED display.

As a new user of S7 I can say battery life is just average. Very little bloatware.
Please you cant compare last years old Apple stuff to this beauty. Samsung has a HIT. They did it. I can imagine the Note 6 will be superb too.

gsmarena have you found a way to show the 360degrees video on mobiles? It's the only thing that I miss when browsing your site on android compared to pc.

many improvements done, but i will go with xperia z5 premium or xperia x performance. i donot need a qhd screen when 1080p is enough. both have ip68 rating too. 1080p screen will improve performance and battery life a lot. xperia has no camera hump which is more practical. a dedicated shutter button too. however, pricing will matter

non-removable battery is a deal breaker.

Otherwise on snapdragon devices use Caf chromiumn browsers like rsbrowser/SWE browser.

ithehappy, 12 Mar 2016You know what's the biggest disadvantage for me of these ne... moreThey can mix actually. My Xperia Z3's been with me for more than 1 year. Never used a case, been dropped around 6 times on concrete and the glasses still holds up. Apart from a few hairline scratches on the alluminum sides and a very small dent on right lower corner, no problem, esp with both glasses.

why not mention Huawei Mate 8 in benchmark section?
It matches exynos 8890 on multi-core performance.
