Huawei Mate 9 review: Mighty Mate

14 November 2016
With Huawei announcing the Mate 9, the manufacturer has been following the well-established game plan of releasing a 'mainstream' pocketable flagship in the spring, only to slap us with the phablet come fall time, thus staying relevant throughout the year. In this case, the Huawei Mate 9 we now have in our hands, comes 7 months after the P9.

Pure respect to Huawei and kudos to them for making this master piece I own mate 9 and iPhone 7 plus and I am confident enough that I have the best of both
Mate 9 is one beast mobile almost next to perfect

But my iPhone 7 plus mate black 256gb is always there to prove its own identity in its own way.

Peace from UAE

some of us like customizations. Besides pure android vs heavily skinned OS was a big deal on lower powered devices in the days of 1GB Ram phones.
These days most flagship phones can handle the heaviset OS without breaking a sweat.
besides you can always put a custom ROM

I'm still not convinced with the result of faux bokeh and the usefulness of dual camera.

Mate 9 is no where near Note 7, s7 edge, and iphone 7 plus.
                          So disappointing.

you have 2 ways: power button & finger print.

for me, i hate the idea of fingerprints in smartphones, so i rely on the power button only.

or if possible, your phone can awake when a notification arrives. you need to check that out as i am not sure if it is available.

                              good luck

OK guys, I am posting more updates on the Mate 9 battery

my use is on wifi and a couple of minutes on 3G. I used chatting aps, browsing and video playback. no gaming. Brightness is auto.

from 94% to 20%, I got 7 hours of screen on time.

I honestly did NOT like the Stand-by time. I disconnected my wifi and after 7-8 hours of stand by, the battery lost 2-3%. I used to criticize Samsung for its weak stand by time for the S series and the Note, but it seems the Mate 9 too has a weak stand-by time.

if I continue using my phone the way I do now, I will get minimum 8:30 of screen on time and maybe more. And this is very great.

there you go guys, I am sure a lot have been speculating about the battery since GSMArena said it has 82 hrs endurance rating. Good luck all

Went from an LG G3 to a Huawei P9 and it is the function I miss most, the apps you can get just don't do the job. Was hoping they'd bring it back with the latest iteration of EMUI

for those looking for its battery,

i used my Mate 9 from 94% to 59% and it gave me 3 hrs and 13 minutes of screen on time

i am on wifi only. my use is browsing and video playing. i did not play games yet.

i will add more updates soon.

                                      good luck
