OnePlus 5 review: Doing the math

20 June 2017
Strange that with a name like that OnePlus doesn't know simple addition. Oh well, tetraphobia is real and many product lines avoid the number 4, so it's anything but odd for a Chinese company to skip straight to 5. That, and the 3T was sort of like a 4.

Don't buy any product from one plus as their service is very poor. One plus customer care team are only making fool to there customers. Accessories are not available for the device and they asked to buy it from other stores. They also charge extra money for accessories other than they quote.

i am just wondering how big of an upgrade would One+5 be over iPhone 6S... OS fluidity, battery & camera vise... thinking of switching to the O+5 (would be my first O+ phone). Would like to go for the most stock Android like OS (was thinking about the Pixel but would like the SD835).

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2017Please, just stick with your Note 4.The main thing I really want to update is the camera. I want an f/1.7 for low light and fast focus, like how I've experienced that with the S7 Edge and Note7.

Well, why in the world you would want a battery limitation with your expensive device? Trust me, batteries go bad as early as 6 months if you charge 2-3 times a day.

You don't mind carrying a thick powerbank daily with your super thin phone?
You practice turning off all radios MOST of the time?
You like limiting your usage of your expensive thin phone?
Do you like the thought of that battery budging inside your sealed phone?

People, why are we submitting to these problems of iOS users before?
            This is not progress.

Just for a software update. Is that so important? Without one system update will u die? I guess its a yes from u! So what about my old phone before getting my new XPERIA XZ phone XPERIA SP? That time when I have Android 4.3, they suppose to release a Android 4.4 update, but they never. But did I not stop buying Sony phones? No! I still used my XPERIA SP till last december where I bought my new phone XPERIA XZ. So in conclusion, will not having one system update die for u?

probably the reason they skipped number 4 is because the pronunciation of "4" in Mandarin is the same as "Death"

If you move from OP3T -> OP5, there are no difference with bottom speaker audio quality (maybe same hardware, but just louder and more static noise)

FrankDrebin, 23 Jun 2017At this price there's simply no point on getting a one plus... moreNever is a reason to consider a device from rival manufacturer when theres a Sony alternative right???? Sony are always automatically the best right?????

The stereo speakers on the XZ are woefully lacking in volume, and the camera is severely crippled by thermal issues and what is the worst camera ui on the market (at least of all the examples I have tried), and whereas Sony have seriously stepped up their software support game, Oneplus too appears to be making strides in this area.

Yes support for the oneplus 1 + 2 sucked, but it has been nothing short of excellent for the 3/3T, hopefully this trend continues with the 5.

The 5 is not a perfect phone by any means, but the only thing the XZ has over it is the water resistance aspect.

Held onto an XZ for over 3 months, just as long as I could stand that awful camera experience, price being equal (or near as can be) I would both take and recommend the 5 over the XZ every time.

i think s7 edge is better buy

If it had IP67/68 rating then the phone would have been made out of glass body to be waterproof, some people on here are idiots for not realising that.

However, you are still telling people to pay almost the same amount of money for worse specs. I'm not sure how that helps your argument of OnePlus not being worth it lol.

Sure, if water resistance is a must have, then you might want to prioritize another phone. OnePlus is definitely water resistant to some extent, but just not certified for it.

At this price there's simply no point on getting a one plus vs other manufacturers,

Its launch price of $479 is way too high, compared with what you get, let me take another flagship for example, the Sony Xperia XZ, right now its selling for $453, and its way ahead of the one plus 5, yes the OP5 has the SD 835 but its the SD 820 is already beastly fast, BUT the XZ has water resistance, front facing stereo speakers, and better software support (yes in the android word sony is the best, only defeated by Google with its pixel line),

So there's simply no reason why to get the OP over other flagships.
