I get the annoyance at lack of AMOLED (as someone who has strictly used AMOLED phones since 2009), but objectively you have to look at what you are getting for the price.
I've bagged one for £440, yet everything available with a high-end cpu and AMOLED starts at at least £500, and that is ignoring that the screen design of the Mix S2 means the overall phone size is much smaller than it's near-rivals.
When looking at the 15 rivals sporting the 845 chip, the price gap gets even crazier (unless you entertain the ridiculous Xperia XZ2 range).

Anyway, the original Mi Mix is hotter than this with its 16:9 aspect ratio making the display truly larger than the 2s.
The 2s should have been OLED display by now considering Samsung already has a small surplus of the display. The image quality of the OLED especially night time viewing is impressive. My 43" 4K TV pales in watching movies vs my S8+.
It is nice to see that there seems a wide spread bump of the camera sensor size in the 2s and the Zenfone 5z to 1/2.5" which improves image quality.

Pity about the headphone jack, but I haven't actually had one on my phone for like 2 years now, so it's not the worst thing that's ever happened.
I like the size and I like the lack of a notch - top specs, hopefully good MSRP.... might just be the phone I get in place of the OnePlus 6 I was interested in until the notch showed up.

for those of you who bashing about copy of the design please be responsible your comment stop being inorgrant, double check when the first mi mix release it was the first full screen phone at that moment. I dont even own any mi device, Im just telling the truth and i actually dont care about bad cat or copycat as soon as the phone works great its a good cat! its should be the best price device to have 845 fast and powerful and future prove, I gonna give xiaomi a push his time, will clean and get all unwanted apps, spy securities away and use my favourite launcher with it.

I can't help myself but I still see these phones takes very bad pictures in general. I thought we are in era where compact cameras are dead.
I dunno, if I want to take picture, I would rather take heavy DSLR than taking trashy pictures with this... In general, it is good looking phone, but these pictures which come from camera. Ouch. For quick shots, whatever but for photography definitely no!

The real issue is that two ports (audio, charging) have been replaced with one. That is NOT progress!

IP ingress rating still isn't a legitimate reason to remove ports. Samsung and LG manage to make phones with headphone jacks and sd card slots and at the same time be IP68

Beautiful device - Kudos to Xiaomi for pushing the envelope.
But - IPS LCD still

About the rest I agree.
Let me add bottom selfie (they could just add it on a notch and paint the "horns" black so that the notch would not look ugly or use corner notch) ... it's useless there.
Same design as before, it's tired and old (first tried by sharp ... 4 years ago!)

too many cons:
-no 3.5mm Jack
-no sdcard slot
-no ip67/68
-lcd in 2018 + small battery = mediocre battery life.
-slow 2.0 usb type c
-no HDMI out
-last but not least no fm radio, no buy :,

Nice design. Certainly has a premium look to it. I wish Xiaomi had opted for Amoled screens and didn't remove the headphone jack. These are my only gripes.

Oh, this is rather funny! So, Chinese phones can't come to US markets... Because of security concerns? What are they, so that people can remove them from ALL of the devices which they currently own; do tell, government. =)
