"The zoom camera has 5x optical magnification"

1. I tried the Huawei P30 Pro. 5x 27mm = 135mm, but Huawei's periscope camera is equivalent to 125mm. I found out that Huawei crops the 125mm camera in order to get 135mm.
2. 5x Optical magnification is definitely the wrong term. The main camera has a focal length of 6.71mm. An optical magnification that is 5x as large would need 5x6.71mm = 33.55mm , but the P40 Pro only has 14.46mm, so the physical image size of a distant object is only 2.15x as large. That's exactly the reason why the periscope camera has a smaller sensor than the main camera: Because the optical magnification is NOT 5x as large. A smaller sensor is physically the same thing as using a crop from a large sensor with the same pixel density.

Ultrawide camera on this phone is best for quality of any i have seen. Night shots on auto look fab but oddly night mode looks worse and too yellow

Excellent all-rounder phone. Though i prefer the design language of Mate 30 Pro over this. Mate 40 Pro could be the best of both worlds if it comes with a periscope camera.

It's only 2 months and they doing a long term review, should've came back after 5 months or so
