AnonD-1026644, 21 Jan 2024Thanks for confirming this. GSMArena's tests scores ar... moreBattery test is from launch and not after updates. I am getting 7+ hours SOT easily on mobile data alone. This phone lasts me all day easily. Same battery life as my Galaxy S23 had. Never listen to reviews and never listen to reddit. Most people just echo each other and do not know what they are talking about when it comes to phones. Never trust the internet. This generation of young people really needs to learn this...

Does anyone know if the 30W charger you can get from Best buy will it be bad to charge my Pixel 7a or should I get a different charger 1st?

Phantom Ensemble, 24 Oct 2023Update, dont buy. You'll have bad battery and thermal ... moreThanks for confirming this. GSMArena's tests scores are reliable in this regard, though.
Poor battery and slow charging: pretty much everything you need to be counterproductive.

Phone seems bigger than the 6a, somehow. Solid camera performance! Battery is also very good if you use "Battery Saver" all the time. Got it mainly for UI: very clean and snappy. Don't mind the 60 Hz and lack of 5G (both from Battery Saver). Gifted the 6a to my dad and got this one for 400 $. I think it was a good deal. Intrigued about Pixel 8a - if they decide to release it. Best tactic when buying a new phone? Buy one generation prior. Now, the Pixel 8a is not out yet, but there have been significant discounts for 7a after the launch of 8 series. Decent upgrade over the 6a, but not earth-shattering. Would love a Pixel Mini:

I haven't had luck with smartphones for last few years, bad luck started with galaxy s10e. Great size but frose often and there was something wrong with the camera. So I traded it with iphone 13 mini which I absolutely loved apart from photos. Photos and videos are in different format and sometimes I couldn't upload them without converting to more common format like jpeg. Also the colour was just too bluey and wasn't suitable for what I use it for. Then after reading all the great reviews I bought this phone. Charging speed is painfully slow. Battery life isn't good. Too chunky, Connectivity is the worst part. 5G feels more like 3G to 4G. I don't get it. Only pros for me has been excellent photo but not that much better than mid-range samsung phone that my husband has. Actually the latest Samsung's mid-range phone is much cheaper as opposed to what people say.

Thanks GSM, for a detailed review. I will definitely go with this phone. Google is working on a whole new level when we talk about AI.

Battery life is the biggest disappointment here and it still manages to score 4.3/5 rating?
I've seen phones like Xperia 10 IV with 163h endurance rating. Battery is the phone's life source and even with the best features, they're useless with a dead battery that doesn't last long.

Downgrading the 7a's battery performance is Google's way of saying that we "better get the 6a" especially now that we're getting major price drops.

Current draw is simply very high whenever Tensor is doing anything. My SD870 in the F3 is slightly better screen on and way better sleep, and SD8G2 in S23 is often 25-50% the current draw of Tensor. All 3 tested at high refresh rate + full brightness. Thus makes sense that a custom ROM doesn't improve much.

Doesn't seemed to have worsened battery life, so there is hope. SOT is sitting at 2hrs 40 and 47% so not horrendous.Waiting for the delayed update as well to see if there's any fixes.

ahahah that battery life is terrible. That's what u get for working with Samsung, google 😂😂😂

Suz, 08 Jun 2023I might look in to that, but I have done that in a LONG tim... moreAny major AOSP ROM out there probably offers way more control over apps and battery, but idk if you'd see a real battery life difference. I didn't on EvoX. Maybe Google needs to fix something with its current underlying firmware package.

I noticed the dim screen as well - the 450ish nits looks similar to the S23 on paper, but that's only if stay in the blue area and don't actually max out the S23's slider - that takes it to over 700 nits, and still steamrolls the 7a on battery life.

The only problem with the Poco F5 and Pro is the always bad band coverage in NA. Otherwise it also whoops the Pixel, especially since stock ROMs in both camps are about equally devoid of useful features, need custom ROMs to unlock their potential, and have a huge modding base.
