Had mine for week almost. main camera can hang with an Iphone 15pro for sure even slightly better, Only main camera.

this phone came out in July and got reviews in December.. what is this? Is it because it was just released in Europe?

Good phone, it performs well.. but when the 8 Gen 3 phone comes out and the price is the same as the iQOO 12, of course the iQOO is a better choice.

Nick Tegrataker, 09 Dec 202335mm could be fairly narrow and slightly uncomfortable if y... moreThey should get rid of that tele lens. Use space and money on better ultra wide lens move main lens to 40mm and use in pixel zoom instead.

While the camera setup on this phone is certainly unique, it does have a few problems that I could spot.

First of all, the auto processing - It seems quite plasticky compared to Xiaomi's or Oppo's latest image processing, thereby effectively reducing the potential per-FL detail advantage that its tighter 35mm equivalent FL lens offers.

And then the film grain mode - "Thick" grains look like someone has randomly decided to max out the Size and Roughness sliders of the Lightroom's Grain setting, while "Thin" ones appear a bit too digital-noise-esque in my book (although I wouldn't mind using the "Old Thin", it looks the most pleasant of the four), and I feel like they should've sampled the grains from real films like DxO did for their FilmPack app.
It's also applying the grain on top of already heavily edited JPEG, so you can see some of the edges look overly sharpened for an emulation of the filmic look, which is supposed to be soft and ambiguous.
However, I do appreciate that ZTE has at least tried to implement film simulation on their phone, and I hope other companies follow suit. Honestly, I would love to see something like a Fuji-Honor or Kodak-ZTE partnership in future.

The 50mm digital zoom leaves a lot to be desired as well, as it's just a straight-up crop-and-upscale from a 12.5MP image unlike what many other companies do nowadays, which is to crop the portion of a full-resolution image to retain a higher level of details. The 50MP mode on this phone is also a simple upscale from 12.5MP, extremely disappointing indeed.

The 8MP telephoto camera has to be some sort of joke honestly, a literal 80mm crop from the main camera still captures 2.7 times more light than this pathetic little crap lmfao. This does not belong to a flagship phone that is touted as being camera-centric in 2023, end of story.

This phone does bring a few neat ideas to the table, but ZTE's current implementation is certainly holding them back. With that said, I would be over the moon if they would be releasing a flagship with a type 1 sensor and a 35mm lens in future.. now that would be amazing for sure.

            Decent specs, poor update support.

The 1Tb version was at 500 euro, last 11.11 on Ali shipping from Europe so without customs taxes, pretty good deal imo.

jiyen235, 08 Dec 2023This phone shows that phones SHOULD have 28-35mm as their B... moreYou're completely wrong. Between 24 and 35mm is a small gap?! It's the same as between 13 and 24, which is huge. You can do portraits with the 80mm camera, if they put a better sensor on it, not just a small one with 8mp.
You can make an 25mm and use a better sensor to take a lossless portrait mode that works at 2x or 1.8x.

jiyen235, 08 Dec 2023This phone shows that phones SHOULD have 28-35mm as their B... more23-25mm is too wide for my taste.
                  I prefer 28 or 29.

                  Problem is cam bump.
If those phones using type1.0 have 6-7mm thick bump, then at 35mm the bumps would be even thicker. Thicker than the phone itself.

Neither the hardware nor the software are up to par with a flagship. The native 35mm of this phone does not seem better than the "simulated" 35mm of the new flagships that offer that function (like iPhone and others). And unfortunately that was his greatest asset. The rest simply lacks appeal. It needs to improve everything a lot to be attractive.

Z60 Ultra announcement is around the corner, I'd wait to see what that has to offer before getting this but I suspect that phone will cost a few hundred more than this and may also incorporate the 35mm FL main sensor.

Nice phone, but the cameras are underwhelming, I expected more, although ZTE was never known for their good camera phones

Another Con should be Zero update policy from ZTE.

This phone shows that phones SHOULD have 28-35mm as their BASE focal length in the main cam. That makes the UW more necessary and makes for better looking photos due to the better compression that the focal length makes. A win-win mostly. The difference between 24 and 35 mm isn't so huge that you have to run around the room to get everyone into shot but the difference in perspective and photo "quality"/ the perceived photo quality is huge.

Just try it, take a photo of something with 1x and then 2x and see how beautiful 2x looks.

Hmm...so the camera is good, but just good. Not excellent, nothing special apart from the focal length which is a love it or hate it. Had my hopes a bit higher for it
