The screen can probably handle 16 mil coulers but WM cannot.
                    The phone is verry pocketable.
The battery is enough for 90-99% of the users.
I have not yet had a flat battery after a days use if fully charged.
However imo they should have given it +- 1500mAhm becouse even if its enough I simply dont like to see it around 10-20% at the end of the day.
Rather have it at 30-40% min like my old Omnia. Feels safer.
A days use for me is:
+- 4 hours of music listening
                    +- 2 hours of Internet/youtube/gaming
                    +- 10 tekst messages
                    +- 3 short (5 min) phone calls

If only this baby had a 16 million colour screen, it would have been a TRUE marvel of modern day technology. It´s still quite amazing though and a great phone nonetheless. The 16m screen would´ve made it an A+ instead of an A.

It's better to stick on photos unboxing since I visit gsmarena with opera mini most of the time, making video viewing not possible.
But video unboxing as an option is always welcome but please leave some photos and words for us. Thanks =)

14)NO Android (but that is people's preference)
15)NO REAL multitouch as it still runs on WM 6.5 (HTC shoulda waited till WM 7.0 - and porting it ISN'T SAME as running it natively, besides Windows CE 6 is VERY different from Windows CE 5 which WM is based upon, so forget about even having in the future via XDA)
                            16)NO North American 3G bands
                            17)TOO BIG!!!!
                            18)TOO ugly (on the back)
19)HTC HD3 is already in planing (at least that's what I heard from HTC reps)
I'm HTC = lesser innovations leads to lesser risks and cheaper parts, which leads us to MORE MONEY!!! and yep MONEY is all I care about!!
                            ,....
                            ....

Can't agree more with darknight07, this device surely looks now more like an oversized, overpriced trash from HTC! u might as well be better with a tiny PC tablet..."

erm. windows mobile 6.5 comes with support for multitouch. i don;t know what you are on about when you say no multitouch.

also go have a look at the spec sheet again, you will find it has relatively "improved" battery life.
the step up from winmo 6.1 to 6.5 added better battery useage. i noticed that when i upgraded my touch diamond 2 from 6.1 to 6.5, and that has a 900MaH battery- somehow i am managing to get 2-3 days of reuglar to heavy use of the phone.

i dunno about you americans, but there is no such thing as HD radio in Australia. if you are talking about digital radio instead, then i wouldn't complain either. Digital Radio hasn't had a huge uptake doe to dropouts when reception falls below half reception, and the audio losing a lot of quality.

as for the lack of frontal video camera- well let me ask you this: how many people out of the population who uses a 3G capable phone- actually does video calling. Surveys done in Australia show that the initial take- up was large, but- like with Twitter, after a short while the majority of people didn't take it up. While it is a feature i rarely use myself- i am sure i can do wtithout, since it is not something i live off.

your "too big" and "too ugly" are purely subjective. so i will be subjective too. i like the large screen, and i like the back of the phonevery much.

as for the touch flo 3d, i find it no less of a drag on my phones performance compared to running apps on the Sony Xperia X1a.

the only 2 things i agree with you on is the lack of internal storage(made up for by the Micro SD card)
and the lack of DLNA, but then again windows mobile 6.5 lets you use your windows live passport to stream media to your phone from a windows 7 pc using a mobile broadband connection, so that is kind of a moot point

I like the way the author of this article writes, especially at the end, somewhere there inside this phone lives a real dragon. Nice. Keep it up.
Nice phone too, the fastest respon speed i have even seen on winmo.

Look forward to full review, but thanks for whetting the apetite!

Extract from comments I made on another review site.

I had this beauty in my hands for an hour courtesy a caring staff member at HTC SA.

Since you mention the HTC HERO, even the HD2 finds the HERO to be a hard act to follow. The HERO Sense UI is in a completely different league to the HD2 Sense UI.
If you’re oblivious to the HERO Sense UI and the Android slickness, you won’t be bothered with this statement. I’m not against WM per se, but having been privileged to experiment with the HTC HERO device, WM and HD2 Sense UI are positively archaic!

The larger screen is a joy, but this comes at a price of comfort when actually making calls even with large hands (someone mentioned earlier this is still actually a phone :))

As for the Camera lens raised above the surface, can’t quite fathom that one … must be an eastern thing!

The physical appearance to me is a little uninspiring, and as in your review, the overall package of the HD seems more striking!

Bottom line, since at my age the HERO text is too small, this will probably be my Diamond replacement that has endeared me to HTC.
Oh yes, and the HTC Service which in South Africa is just superb, as I’m sure it is in the rest of the world.

The HD2 is where I’m headed … but will always miss the HERO Sense UI and Android marriage that is not quite evident in the MS 6.5 and lacklustre Sense UI offering which make up the OS partnership on the HD2!
