Samsung S8530 Wave II review: Riding the wave

19 November 2010
They shall come in wave upon wave. Or so it seemed in the beginning. Samsung certainly wanted a strong start for their own Bada OS and they had it. It is usual for sequels to be questioned and belittled. That’s one thing the Wave II doesn’t have to worry about. Update: Samsung Dive overview added...

I bought this phone last month and i m enjoying it to the fullest, Touch, Sound, camera, Internet, Chat(Kint), gaming everywhere i m more then satisfied.
The best thing about this phone is video and audio players, Video player runs almost all the formats :), i love watching movies on such a big and clear screen. Audio player is so simple and full of features with awesome user interface.
Phone looks stunning compare to all the handsets under 16k.
The main disadvantage is the app availability for bada but i found enough and useful apps on samsungapps. Go here and keep searching u will also get some good ones like Kint messenger which keeps me online all d time on fb and gtalk.
I have not faced any problem so far about hanging and touch , as per my experience i recommend this phone. All the best and have fun guys:)

i've tried different kinds of celfones. and samsung wave II is great. i just bought xperia x10 a month ago and after 2 weeks sold it. the speaker is not good. when somebody calls me, i cant hear them. i had to look for a quiet place just to hear them. wave II super duper great. so, if i were you, go for this.

I had purchased a Wave II, mobile S8530 on 19.1.2011. After the purchase, I found that there is hanging problem in the mobile. After the mobile hangs, without removing battery mobile does not power off. I visit Service Centre to get the mobile repaired. Even after the repair, service center did not solve the problem completely. A few weeks later the problem came with touch screen. On July 14, Kalkaji service center told me that the mobile touch screen will be changed. I felt very sad to see. Another problem is, the mobile technology. I tried Airtel & Vodafone 3G services to mobile but they told me that your device is 3G enabled but based on WCDMA technology. WCDMA is a 3G technology that supports only low 3G speeds comparable to the existing EDGE network, For a true 3G experience, they recommend a HSPA device to enjoy higher 3G speed. Had I made a mistake of relying on Samsung? I relied on Samsung many years but now the trust is completely broken.

I'm going to buy a new phone. And I'm looking for strong battery, nice UI, durable, good for social-networking, able to open Documents, with a good price. Do you think Wave II is suitable for me? Any suggestions for another phones?

I bought a Wave II.The look and perfomance is excellent. As a music lover I always prefer to listen music using ear phones provided with the mobile set.To my surprise there is no stereo effect of music for which I am unable to enjoy the music to the maximum. All my earlier phones were having stereo output.Being a latest mobile phone I expected this feature to be in the set. Please let me know whether this (stereo output) feature is available or not.If available I will try for other options.KIndly suggest.

I have bought WAVE II on April and was working perfect. Now there seemed to be problem in touchpad. I shown it to Samsung service center. I have spent 30 min there and three Wave II owners came with same problem. I enquired secretly to service engineer and he admitted Wave II has problems. Right now some of Samsung dealers not displaying Wave II at all.

I bought this phone two months back with a very clear requirement - large screen, touch phone, easy browsing, good battery life and within a budget. It has satisfied these requirements well. The touch screen is great, no lags in response and voice quality is excellent. Browsing is great with the only drawback being the lack of a wrap around in the page display. You can download Bolt and solve that problem. GPS is definitely not in the class of other Androids and Symbians. One cannot use Google maps easily. As regards the trial version, the GPS lockin is not instantaneous and can take time. In short the GPS facility is a negative in this phone. I am not a gamer nor am I somebody who expects my phone to run like a super computer. I use it for calls, photographs (great still and video capability), browsing and music. The battery life (1500 Mah) is good with non GPS usage getting you full 2 days. I reccomend this phone for the above functions only. At the price it is a great buy if you dont want to spend buying a phone at the cost of a high end laptop.
