HTC One S review: Onederful

11 April 2012
The HTC One S is the middle child of the One family but it just might be the brightest and best looking too. Inside the slender metal case is a treasure chest of new technology - the brains behind the beauty in this piece of smartphone alchemy...

AnonD-28095, 12 Jul 2012 Battery Endurance Observation ... moreShould i choose the derise s or the galaxy s? I want to choose the derise s because of the aluminium unibody and htc sense and gingerbread 2.3 but the galaxy has a lot of dev support. And also i heard that sense 3.0 will not be made available to htc. Does that mean that newer android versions would also be made unavailable to the derise s?? Please help.

                  Battery Endurance Observation

SG Galaxy SII HTC ONE S

                  3G talk time 8.35 hour 9.42 hour
Web Browsing 4.24 hous 4.03 hour
Video Play 8.00 hous 9.28 hour
                  OVERALL 40 HOURS 35 HOURS..!!!!

This ratings written here are GSMArena's own test readings.

HTC ONE S is beating SG SII in tests than how can GSMArena says it has 5 hours less battery endurance rating... I'm surprised..!!
Even the words used in (HTC ONE S Battery review) paragraph seems negative marketing.

I think that's nonsense. From the little I know, Anonymous are ethical hackers, not thieves. Sony's security wasn't up to the job, pure and simple. They're trying to make it look like since Anonymous were involved, no encryption in the world would have been secure, that Anonymous are invincible and so Sony exercised due diligence in setting up their encryption. That won't wash, Sony. We know!

So faster browsing .. and if it is medium then you can pick Motorola ex115 or nokia c3.

Never had a problem with my home button. I use the phone pretty heavily, and it always lasts me through the day, and can almost make it through 2 days. Just go and pick up one of these phones, and you'll want one. The "wow" factor is huge. Even iPhone nuts pick it up and admit that the screen is beautiful, the photos from it look great, and although the Beats audio is kind a gimmick, people still get excited.

Also, yes, the dropbox is extremely handy. Also, if you haven't seen it, check out the Media Link HD which works with this phone and with the One X. I'm going to order mine, it looks absolutely awesome.

doozer999, 05 Jun 2012Great review, and a great handset! I am just about to star... moreIt is possible that the screen is smeared with sweat (which is conductive due to salt in it). It'll short-circuit the screen's touch sensitive interface.

Happened couple of times, after long conversation in a sunny day, screen became unresponsive and I couldn't even disconnect the call. But after wiping the sweat solved the problem. If not sweat it might be other conductive element.

It is also possible its due to software bug (though unlikely, as it would have been reported by many others). In that case locking the phone and unlocking it back might reset the touchscreen driver.

Great review, and a great handset! I am just about to start my own Smartphone odyssey and have finally decided upon the HTC One S, but wondered if anyone else was aware of the issue discussed in this thread:

                                    http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/HTC-One-S/Home-screen-button-problem/td-p/1082393

It relates to the home screen having a bit of a “fit” where the phone behaves as if the home screen button is being continually pressed - only it isn’t and then the buttons stop working altogether! Although the issues seems to pass - or the power needs turning off, it can happen many times a day or even every few minutes - making the phone unusable! It seems to be happening more and more frequently to more and more handsets.

HTC do not acknowledge there’s an issue - but as the thread shows, it is becoming one! If HTC don’t acknowledge there’s a problem…then worryingly I can’t see there’s going to be a fix.

I would value the thoughts of others before I consider buying a beautiful handset…that may not work after a week!!!
