Samsung Galaxy S II Plus review: Golden oldie

31 January 2013
Samsung has been steadily setting the bar ever higher with each flagship released, and the massive success of the Samsung Galaxy S III and its predecessor, the S II, have catapulted them to the top of the smartphone food chain. And, as is expected in the aftermath of such success, the....

I think that you are a lot pessimist and septic because i have one and it's fast and fluid.

Jellybean is now rolled out for the old s2 in most markets, so no advantage there, the sets are identical in terms of OS (although the 'plus' has the new os out of the box). Many experts think the new processor and GPU are inferior, and they have been benchtested as such. I've just come from a store making a direct comparison with the s2 and s2 plus both running jelly bean, and we (me and sales guy) rebooted the plus version because we couldn't believe our eyes, yet the same thing happened -- the user interface was comparatively all jerky on the plus, the old s2 smoother. So, the plus gives you NFC (anyone using it? I thought not) and adds glonas for slightly better GPS usage. But it gives about 250% less usable RAM (and some apps can't be run from micro sd) and has a less capable chipset which in my experience of direct comparison is visibly inferior absolutely every time you swipe the screen. The seem to be more minuses than 'plusses' with the plus.

I actually bought this phone and I really like it. The screen is a notch better than the original S2 (white is whiter), camera is better and it has NFC. Batterytime is exellent. The phone is fast and fluid throughout the whole UI (as fast as my S3 actually)
                    Would recommend it :)

I don't think it's quite so bad. It has almost the same processor, better camera and seemingly better battery life. It's disadvantage versus original Galaxy S II is only the smaller flash memory size, but it's partially compensated with a larger SD card support. An important advantage is also the OS which is probably going to be updated while it's not likely to happen on SII. For me loudspeaker performance is not crucial, but audio quality is very important. What you think about audio quality of Plus vs Original Galaxy SII?

How is it úpossible that it has such good battery life? Is it because of CPU or Jelly Bean or what?

one of the most useless phones in recent times .... they could have just updated existing S2s to jelly bean instead of launching a new phone ... i think samsung is just got addicted to making phones .. anything that looks like a rectangle to them is a phone .. brainless and stupid they are becoming day by day.
