nice phone. size is pretty cool, nice midrange specs, nice design, 1900 mAh battery (specs site on GSMARENA says 1750 mAh. what is right?)

                negative
no 1080p recording. a phone with this qualities should handle that!
VGA frontcam is to weak. why no 1.3 MP?

but all over a nice phone. and for the price of 279 euros it's really a catch!

Great, I hope the price will be competitive
Sony's mid rangers and low-end phones are of premium quality, specially the screen and camera unlike Samsung and LG, for example we cannot compare xperia tipo to LG L3 nor the Galaxy mini which are priced accordingly Sony always have the upper hand there

                              i like the semi-retro design,
kinda remind me of SE K810...

but, since this thing doesn't support native video call, i think i won't buy it.
i' m going to buy one of those korean phones that support native video call.
i'll buy Xperia if Sony make an Android Xperia phone with native video call support.

not so great design, look almost the same like xp e, much space at top n the bottom, the frame on the camera lens is a bit too big, the camera looks like a human eye, but specs are good enough, n hopefully the price is competitive. Thanks sony, great job anyway.

The GPU should be Adreno 305 . cause official Sony site says chipset is Snapdragon S4 plus MSM8230.i think 225 is a typo. ya it's sad it doesnt come with Bravia Engine but dont loose your hope guys.i believe in XDA developers. they will port a bravia engine to this. great to have a 1900mAh battery

I dont like that Xperia J design, esp at the bottom. And why no Bravia Engine? Xperia U has Bravia, and to be honest its not very good with it disabled, videos look dull, not very lively. However it sounds like the L has a more lively display, it may look ok without Bravia.
