22 March 2013
Arguably one of the most exciting pieces of smartphone design in recent times, the HTC One is also properly powered and flaunts a screen that should please even the most demanding eyes...

What you said ain't gonna change our views.
HTC ONE is the top dog in terms of looks, hardware, screen, and battery life!
It's the REIGNING CHAMP of browsing dept 9hrs 58m, beating iphone 5.

Great review by GSM Arena erases my doubt, I'm gonna get this phone surely.

well, i like the looks and the sounds of this phone. but i would still take the Z. the Octacore on S4 is good, but i wont be able to maximize that as well. since a normal user only does few gaming, few shots(i dont intend to post them on billboards or magazines. just in social media sites).

Listening to music using loud speaker is rare unless you are always at home. most people uses their headsets to listen to music. i dont even see anyone walking around playing with loud speaker.

Winning a game because they have an octacore in their smartphone, and what games actually most people play on their smartphones? yes! angry birds? temple run? mincraft? cut the rope? fruit ninja? pretty heavy huh!

Viewing angles is not an issue here. do you really intend to let the one beside you peek at your phone, what you're typing in, or reading, or whatever? its a personal stuff. privacy please.

The Z is enough for me, it's got everything. i wont even bother covering it when the comes. it is perfect for summer and rainy days!

I did a 1 week long decision whether to choose the strong dust proof and water resistance build of Sony XZ or the beautiful and fast HTC one here in the UK. I chose XZ because of the build, water resistance, expandable memory, and larger screen. These 2 phones almost have the same dimensions with HTC one being thicker and having a smaller display. Thanks!

so why not in 4.7" htc one ?

what you gonna do with high processing power ? seriously sooner or later your will need that processing power

and in my country xz and htc one prices doesn't differ too much, so why i should spend my money for an old hardware when at the same price u got more advanced one :)

The One has 2 main advantages over other flagships. But sadly, both of them are redundant.

              1) Aluminum casing. Looks great but 98% of phone users buy cases to cover their precious phone.
              2) Stereo Audio Loudspeaker. Really nice audio output from these bad boys. Reminds me of what the Nokia 5800 sounds like -only louder and cleaner. Too bad, cause most people nowadays just use the 3.5mm output music to their earphones, headphones, or some other dedicated sound system.

Xperia.Z was.slightly.behind in cpu tests. it wasn't too far. Further what are you gonna do with high processing power.... are you going to host a website on HTC one? There is not much difference between s4 pro and 600. Go to Wikipedia page of snapdragon and find. They are "almost" the same using 28nm technology. HTC one screen is small so even out has slightly high processing power you may not able to enjoy games.

In terms of designing part, HTC did well this time. I would like to see some drop test results so that customer should not have ugly device after accidental damages.

I really do like this phone. Sadly, it has no expandable memory. Bought the xperia z last week (with expandable memory) and I am thoroughly happy with my purchase. I have a large collection of flac music files from three 32gb microsd cards and just swap these cards in my Sony xz, for my audiophile music "on the go".

Fantastic build quality hampered by the poor camera which is very essential in these days smartphones. won't buy the argument of superior sound because it depends on taste and Xperia Z sounds as good as one can get(tested).

But will definitely prefer this one over soap case like S4.

Poor video and audio codec support out of box.

This is the same thing for HTC One X. I upgraded from Samsung GS2 to HTC One X. I copied some of the video files on it, tried to show off to the friends for the nice display. Most of the video files just cannot be played by its stock rom. They can be played on Samsung GS2 without any problem.

Here are the format that it doesn't support. It took me while to figure out which App has all the hardware level acceleration.

                                  * WMV format from Microsoft.
                                  * MTS file from panasonic camcorder
                                  * mpg file saved from ATI All-in-Wonder HD(TV program).

I just don't understand why HTC doesn't do the completely job. If it wants to gain the market share from others, it has to do better job. Just put an aluminum case won't help much. It's not innovation for having metal case. I would rather to have a removable battery with plastic case because anyhow I will buy outterbox case for my phone.

4MP camera is another wrong bet. It just doesn't make sense to go with lower resolution. At least it should keep 8MP resolution. The phone display has 1080P, people do zoom in to see the details of the picture these days.

I cannot see the words "DEBENHAMS" on the far right for HTC One but I can see the words very clearly for Sony Z. Try looking at the day samples again.

As for the night shots, I can see "Silver Project" for the Sony Z, but HTC One is so fuzzy with the text!
