having had both phones. i can honestly say they are both awesome phones.
they both have good points and bad.
Samsung nice loud ringtones and speaker.
Sony waterproof.
But the thing i experienced on my S4 is over heating. so far touch wood, my xperia Z is cool and not got hot.
camera tricks on S4, top notch.
Xperia Z camera is very good.
overall a great phone. well worth it. so tough to choose.

Samsungs super amoled HD is so much better. Its pixel and color density is so much higher than xperia that in sunlight it makes a hugeee difference.

Sony xperia z looks good however inside the good looking phone it has nothing that beats the galaxy s4... in my opinion I think galaxy s4 is a much better phone and it deserves the title as king of android 2013

I have both an s4 a Sony Z but much perfer my s4 any day lol an the camera on the Z an no were as good as the s4 an typeing on the z is crap but screen is nicer then s4 an feels more comfy an is water resistant an a nicer body then s4

I bought a samsung s4 first. Though technically its battery should last longer and it has a better processor n stuff so it should be smoother. But my experience with samsung has been so bad that I had to exchange my phone for an xperia because my budget wouldn't let me get the HTC one, which I should've bought initially itself coz in the end I ended up spending the same amount on 2 phones.
The battery life of s4 was really bad. Like in 7-8 hrs of heavy use it would reduce by 80%.. On standby it would drop by 20% every 2hrs.. I couldn't even get through a day.. Whats the point of all those features if you have to switch each one of them off to get through one day of use.. N s4 heats up like so bad.. It becomes really hot, I was worried that my phone would blow up.. N it lags and hangs alot.. specially in the browser.. Was not at all satisfied with the product..
Though xperia z is not the best, mine got scratched by one fall, that too a very lil fall, and the display is not the best but it definitely doesn't have issues like the s4.. Thank God for that..
I would still prefer the HTC one.. Coming from HTC one x..

Ergonomics: Slightly smaller body and rounded corners make it easier to hold, its not all about materials.
Updates: Samsung has updated the flagship S1 to 2.3.6 check your facts, and even something like the arc s doesn't get 4.1 whereas the S2 got 4.1.2 (they came out in 2011)
Bottomline:
You are just another fan-boy trying to protect Sony's bad offerings
S4 wins on almost every occasion (a long distance lead) whereas where it didn't win, it was never a distant second.
Go home Sony fanboy, you are drunk.

So in simple, its just the work of the fanboys rather than how good it actually is (when it is actually not)

i like simple and intelligent phone like iphone but iphone is bot made for india, samsung only copy good phones, however s4 is good but it has somnay unwanted & useless features, i like sony z, i want to buy it, but just waiting for some more up gradation on it, like it needs more bright and high contrast display, and need fast camara opining with separate button. 4.7" screen size. and last but not least it would be great if sony introduce their own OS... then it will be complete phone where all others phones have to copy it or give up...
