Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 go on sale early, here are their prices

Peter, 07 March 2024

Sometimes we let excitement get the better of us – and someone over at German retailer Otto must have been quite excited about the launch of the Galaxy A55 and A35 since the online store is already selling both phones. They weren’t supposed to go official until March 11. That’s the date for the launch in India, anyway, but it’s the only launch date that Samsung has announced.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 starts at €480 for the base 128GB model, the 256GB version costs €50 more. As Otto helpfully notes, there is a microSD slot, so you can add extra storage for less money (it will be slower, though, and €50 is a decent price to double the storage). Both versions have 8GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy A35 comes in two versions as well – 6/128GB for €380 and 8/256GB for €450. That’s €70 more to double the storage, but the upgrade includes 2 extra gigs of RAM. There is the microSD slot too.

The store lists the key specs. The Galaxy A55 has a 6.6” display, not 6.5” as rumored, but that might be a mistake. It’s a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display (19.5:9) with Gorilla Glass Victus. The A55 is powered by the new Exynos 1480 chipset. The rear holds a 50MP main (1/1.56”), 12MP ultra wide (1/2.74”), 5MP macro camera and 32MP selfie.

The Galaxy A35 also has a 120Hz 6.6” FHD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus, per Otto’s specs. The phone is powered by the Exynos old 1380. The camera is similar with a 50+8+5MP configuration (a smaller 1/1.96” sensor in the main) and a 13MP selfie.

Both phones are launching with Android 14, One UI 6.1 and Knox 3.1. They have 5,000mAh batteries and aluminum bodies with IP67 dust and water resistance rating.

These are dual-SIM phones with a hybrid SIM tray and eSIM. Like their predecessors, these phones have USB-C ports wired for v2.0 speeds. There’s also Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3 (aptX, LDAC and SSC).

Assuming the retailer didn’t make a mistake in the specs (and we do think the A55 display size might be a mistake), these phones are pretty much what we expected to see – it’s just that we didn’t expect to see them this week.

Or the Nokia X30, because of a more durable design due to an aluminum frame and a frosted plastic back 👍
