Too heavy to carry in a pant pocket. Battery dries quickly though with little use.

You do also want enough space for a large battery capacity. But seriously, I rather see Samsung making a 1" 12-240mm optical zoom camera instead of the unnecessary 200MP 16-to-1 pixel binning camera sensor.

That way, you have a lot of space for the 10x optical zoom alongside its stabilization while also providing a big battery. There's still a huge untapped potential for this kind of phone.

        Nice phone. But imagining a computer's wattage and the power supply, the phone's wattage and the battery may be a bit dumb. I see 2430mAh as little for this thing. This behemoth probably should have had at least a 2750mAh battery.

          I got one 3 years ago, day shot is good, the zooming is the best but the OIS is terrible.

                I own one and I really like it how often do you come across a phone with a pop out camera just hard to find covers for it my one has a battery pack with it I love the phone I think it's one the best phones I have ever had

                  Got one of this back in the day, pretty bulky by today standard, the quality of camera was passable and the massive telescopic lens surely helps, but oh boy how the camera was the reason i was despise it, sometimes after a year of use dusts was seen inside the lens, and every zoom photo i took was speckled with black splotches of dusts, the camera then randomly stop working and died shortly after, this is the reason why periscopic camera works and even telescopic camera on cellphone contained within a sealed module.

                    Mrwhosetheboss said that this phone failed because of multiple cameras being the "Eureka moment". God knows how much I cringed from watching such nonsense! 🤦‍♂️

                      The only real benefit was the zoom quality, but after that it was just a ok for a smartphone , it never even rivalled my canon compact digital , and came nowhere near my higher end dslr series of cameras, not even my old ones

                        Would be awesome to have this phone in modern design. Like with Samsung S20 or Huawei P40 camera and optical zoom lens like in this phone and decent phone electronics. Phone part would be not much thicker than my existing Samsung S9+ in thick protective cover. Size would allow to use larger battery as well. It would be dream camera phone for anyone who is not obsessed with insanely slim phones.

                          Unrivalled optics in a smartphone at the fraction of the cost of a modern high end phone. Still beats most 2021 phones camerawise. I am not really sure why Samsung never made a follow-up version - I believe there would be a huge market for this. Mine fell out of a car once and was run over by several other cars behind me. Still works like a charm until today - even when I use it only on the side, nowadays.

Periscope lens is not a new idea since ASUS has started it with the Zenfone Zoom in late 2015, but the zoom range is pretty limited.

                                        As for pixel binning, that has never been an effective solution for digital zooming as all the pixels have been binned in the first place to create a larger effective pixel size, thus leaving very little room for lossless zoom. A little surprise on why both Nokia 808 PureView and Nokia Lumia 1020 still has a great short zoom performance compared to today's modern smartphone with Quad Bayer sensor.

                                        Not everyone posts pics on social media, I myself prefer to post my photos on Flickr. If we can have an updated version of this smartphone with a 1" RGB sensor and 10x optical zooming alongside the latest SD 888 or SD 870 chipset, that would instantly be my new daily driver.
